As another 'mummy of four', I went through all this back in the eighties. (I still have a vivid recollection of the agony of kneeling on stray bits of Lego! 😆) But it does get better - eventually... You got an amazing amount done!

As all the christmas/winter stuff is starting to appear in the shops (because people are trying to spread out their shopping due to cost of living) ***I would genuinely love to see if you get a 'head start' and where to begin!***

It looks so much better, a job well done Rhi! This has inspired me to sort out our cupboard of doom, it’s a walk in linen storage cupboard absolutely full of everything 😅

I guess it's one of the only advantages of the smaller home sizes in the UK. You should see what, approximately, a 280 square meter house with a 2-car garage looks like when it's full of clutter. What you have there would be just someone cleaning out closet space in the US in a lot of cases, so try not to feel awful about it. :) Most US homes outside cities or large suburbs don't have stairs, so it's all spread out on one floor.

I think you’ll find relatively few houses in the UK have two car garages! We don’t have a garage at all, just a small driveway and our house, shock horror, has three bedrooms but only one bathroom! For two adults and ten year old boy girl twins.

We REALLY need to declutter so many areas of our home. We've a 2m pax wardrobe in the box room that is stuffed and has all the christmas decorations on top of it as neither of us can get into our attic (nor do we want to, our idiot neighour recently renovated his house and due to gaps in the plasterboard on his side of the deviding wall in the attic we had mice last winter, we do not get on with that neighbour (believes the noises of 2 dogs playing is 'unacceptable', to quote a note he put through the letterbox one time) and I'd bet that he's not fixed it on his side so we are not going up there to retrieve christmas decorations in case we find mouse family robinson's moved back in.) in addition to all sorts of other stuff like pictures we havn't got round to hanging, an ottoman with spare dog blankets that can't be on the landing due to the dog's beds and one deciding to chew it, a billy bookcase filled with dieties knows what etc. And then there's the attic itself which we'd need to hire somebody to clear for us to sort through (my mim thinks that there may be ashes of her childhood dogs up there so we will need to sort it) and my mum's built in wardrobe that needs a declutter in itself and all the extra duvets, my mum's fleevy bedding sets etc reoragnising and potentially rehoming in the box room. We also have the garage and another outbuilding that my ex-father had as a bar years ago that is now filled with junk so they need clearing as the ceiling has partially came down in the garage due to water damage and according to a builder friend, both are in need of knocking down. I've decluttered as much as I can but I need my mum to tell me what needs to be gotten rid of in all these areas and she works very long hours as a careworker so we haven't had the chance to do so. My parents are divorced but my ex-father wants the family home (even though he's not lived in it for 12 years) and my mum wants to buy him out so we don't know whether we'll be able to renovate or if we'll have to move or not, so decluttering/ clearing the outbuildings best we can (got a garage freezer and that's also where the boiler and tumble dryer are) would be a good idea anyways. I have a LOT of plans for if we get the house and can renovate it since it needs a lot of building work done so having less stuff and it being organised would be extremly benefical for if we needed to move or move out temporarily whilst building work was completed. With the exception of the living room sideboard (which has stuff I don't know about) the rest of the house is pretty organised but those are the problem areas.
