I made one just like your design. I actually made a solid knife with a full grind. Took a few hours to file down 1095 steel, but the results were phenomenal.

Saludos, Tony

Hello Tim, in my most recent video (already 2 months old) I use this guide to make a sheepsfoot knife. Currently I'm working on repairing a large engineer's vise and some other projects on the side. I just came back from travel so haven't had too much time for KZbin unfortunately. I'm glad you ask about next videos, it keeps me inspired to keep going. Thanks for your nice comments! Cheers, Tony

great idea!! and thanks for providing plans! I would also like to know about the tool racks on the walls above your bench. I have never seen anything like it and it looks very ideal! I would like some and hope I can find them locally! What is the name, and who is the mfg.? Do you like them? Have you found any negatives about them? What do you use to attach your tools to the 'panels'? Also, about the portable, foldable, work bench you use outside, I have one similar, and I need bench dogs for mine, and I like the ones on yours, and I would like to learn from you, who makes those bench dogs, and can I order some? thank you!

Hello again, The tool racks are from a German manufacturer called Küpper. They also produce all the holders that you can easily click into the racks. It is ideal! Whenever you need to reorganize, just take the holders out and place them somewhere else. If you happen to live in Europe you can easily order it online... The workbench is a cheap Black&Decker workmate knock-off and comes with the dogs... The brand is called Parkside and it is sold at Lidl - which happens to be a grocery store 😂 again, easily accesible in Europe. Where are you from? Cheers, Tony!

@@TonyNeedsHobbies Thanks Tony! Would you be able to provide me a link to shapeways, because the business I am finding, using google, do not appear to offer anything at all like your sintered metal item. LoL must be something I'm not doing correctly to find the Shapways, your speaking of. :) I discover a lidl store, now and then, but none within 40 miles of me. There is an Aldiz in my town though. I'll look into the German mfg Kupper and discover if I can get what you have. I'm located the USA. Thanks once again Tony, I greatly appreciate your replies!

Hi Tony. I have two questions if you can spare the time. Why do you add the spacers between the rod and the file? Do these present a vulnerability to them tilting over and collapsing under the force of filling?
@TonyNeedsHobbies3 ай бұрын
Hi Lemmingski, Thanks for watching my video and the question you ask. Here's my answer: I add those wooden spacers so that I can clamp the file more securely to the rod and to make sure it is parallel to it. I guess it's not strictly required. If you tighten the hose clamps really well, it doesn't tilt or collapse under the force of filing. I actually think it holds better with these little wooden spacers. Greetings, Tony!

Thanks, Tony. I'm combining ideas from a few jigs I've seen. Your T nuts are definitely being incorporated.
@TonyNeedsHobbies3 ай бұрын
@@Lemmingski If possible try to use stainless steel ones. I used galvanized T-nuts but they tarnished over time because of moisture in the wood and my shed. Nothing WD-40 cannot handle, but if you have the option stainless will be nicer 🙂

Great build I'm wanting to make one soon. Any way I could get a picture of your sketch to cut plywood to build this. I couldn't read measurements on video.
@TonyNeedsHobbies6 ай бұрын
Yes, you can find it here in metric or imperial measurements: www.tonyneedshobbies.com/plans/woodworking/ Be sure to print it full size as the font is a bit weird when not zoomed in fully. Happy creating! Tony

Did you know by any chance which hole is which degree??? thanks
@TonyNeedsHobbies6 ай бұрын
Not really. It all depends on how deep you turn the eye bolt into the T-nut and where the blade is clamped to the jig. If you have a protractor you can easily determine the angle or use it to adjust the angle. Have fun! Tony

Hallo. How thin are you filing the edge before ht?? And is it possible to fil the last of the bevel after ht?? // Firefighter from sweden
@TonyNeedsHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Hey Tjabolino! I filed it down way too thin, to roughly 0.5mm. This gave some challenges with heat treatment. Next time I'll keep the edge at 1.5mm before heat treat. You cannot file the edge with the jig after heat treat, the hardened steel will be harder than the file. However, you can use good quality sand paper or grinding belts. They are harder than steel and should still cut. So that's what I used in the video. Thanks for watching it, and keep up the good work fighting fires and keeping people safe. I hope for the Swedish people that this summer will be free of wildfires. Cheers from the Netherlands!

The instructions don't give dimensions for the holes to the edge or spacing between the holes.
@TonyNeedsHobbies10 ай бұрын
Hello David, that's true. I don't really have any but the spacing in between doesn't really matter too much. As long as they're evenly spaced and the eye bolt is long enough you can cover pretty much any angle in the range of angles used for bevels. Hope that helps a bit. Thanks for watching! Tony

Measure twice cut once. Not accurate drawings and an inch short on the bottom 19 1/2” (should be 6” not 5”
@TonyNeedsHobbies6 ай бұрын
Hi Ian, thanks for your comment. Just to be sure I double checked the drawings. When zoomed in or printed full size they show 6'' for both the 19 1/2'' and the 7 3/4'' parts. I do agree with you that the font is a bit unclear when zoomed out so I'll try to update it when I find the time. Thanks again, Tony

@@TonyNeedsHobbies it could be a regional issue as I'm in the USA..that type of music in the beginning part of the video is very unpopular..although not very popular as pop music, channels will play classical music as most people will find it acceptable..the country type music is a major turn off and thumbs down regardless of the tutorial content for most people in the USA..
@TonyNeedsHobbies3 жыл бұрын
@@agentcovert That is so funny (and unexpected, from my Dutch perspective). I actually often select country music because I thought it would appeal to many people in the USA. Also, I am an America-minded guy and actually like the genre. Good to know that this is a misconception - as I mentioned in my previous reply, I'm continuously trying to improve my videos, and sound and music are vital elements. I really appreciate your comment and explanation and I'll work on it. Thanks! Tony

@@TonyNeedsHobbies just an observation of a serious KZbin content veiwer..the channels that go to far left or too right will alien different groups of people because its too left or too right, the channels that have more of neutral middle ground appeal to a broader audience even if its not exactly ideal for that type of audience..also being not in the USA you may try just using some of your local music as it would give some distinction or flavor that stands out from the same boring other channels if its agreeable..to be fair you actually make good content and your video quality and audio quality is good.. I see some of the popular channels focus on a set topic section in your case Hobbies which which is good because it can have a broad type of audience but then occasionally make an off topic videos about something local like regional landscape or shopping or restaurants or seasonal events that will get the most/more views as it has a broader audience and you being in a different country,climate..Obviously its whatever you choose to create on your channel..Best Wishes my friend..

Thanks for the compliments on the video and audio quality 😁. I also appreciate your tips. It sounds like a good idea to try out some traditional dutch crafts, like making wooden shoes or something, to try to stand out. Or doing some other regional activity once in a while. Music-wise I like your analysis that it has to be neutral so I'll work on improving. Cheers!
