Why on earth are there 2k dislikes on this video, what's wrong with the world? You go try and make a knife from a bearing. Amazing video - true craftsmanship.

Staglioni I hope this doesn't come across too inflammatory but when you watch a movie that generally meets your standards, and you see one line of dialogue that you disagree with, it's not enough to dislike the movie. I'm just saying that I don't understand how somebody could dislike someone else's hard work. Some of my videos take over 100 hours to create, and every once in a while I see a dislike. I'm all for free speech but in some cases there's really nothing to not admire about someone else's hard work.

I just wanted to type; It's probably balsa wood. But still. Nice knife.

Well I don't see so often a knife that cuts paper as easily in such small ribbons without tearing it.

Nebojša Kamenčić it's not the knife it's the sharpener. you can just strop after 400 grit and you can do that

That's not insane for normal people a bearing is a piece of steel, and for people like this it's just a piece of steel with probably high carbon amounts.

nicely done, I made a knife out of a railroad spike that turned out really cool, I heated up the hilt and put it in a vise and twisted it for the handle and the remainder I heated and stretched into the blade, so the spike still has the original head on it, heated oil bathed and tempered.
@Wolfgang34185 жыл бұрын
Please Sir, what is a railroad spike? I have a railroad axle from the junkjard, must be a good steel too. It's magnetic due to the turning and turning ...

Ah well it’s still neat, but I thought you were going to heat and smash the whole bearing. So it would be like a damascus pattern. (Very nice job)

The races and rollers of a bearing are made from very similar, if not the same type of steel. Forging it into a damascus pattern would give more form-freedom compared to just straightening out one of the races and grinding out the shape. However, the etching pattern you are probably looking for will not appear very clearly if at all. The swirls and lines you see in a pattern forged blade are two very different types of steel that react differently when soaked in an acidic solution. Common damascus steel blades are made by welding together carbon steel and nickel or chrome alloy steel.
@alfbittner64896 жыл бұрын
Yeah like damascus with all the bearings and the race

@marlinbundo24096 жыл бұрын
Most people quench with mineral oil. Kiln's can use all kinds of fuel, I used to use coke (coal after the volatile material has burned away)
@agoogleaccount96085 жыл бұрын
He uses oil as you can see it burns a little bit and if it was water there would be alot of steam
