Easily make your own whip finisher for large flies... musky flies, bass bug flies, pike flies.
There is an update to this tool. I will have the video of it as soon as I can get it produced. I promise I will not be as long as this video and will only demo showing the difference between it and the Giant Fly Tying Finishing Tool. The actual bending is exactly the same. With the bending I show you, you can take that and bend up any shape you want.
If you would like to use a whip finisher on large flies. Here's a super simple way to make your own giant whip finisher for big bass bugs and large streamers for musky and pike.

for those of us that are into junksmithing our tools up, stainless steel straws and wisk wire work wonderfully; both can be had at the dollar store along with beads for the ends of the tube handle.

Great video! I will be making one tomorrow. Did you make the split pins also, or can they be purchased?

You should be able to buy split pins at a hardware store.

I like it. Would you be willing to make and sell to me 3 of the large whip finishers?

I do sell them. I don't have any made-up right now though. There are other things I'll be selling off my website. I'm just getting it setup and will try to get my contact information on it later today. www.thefrugalflyrodder.com

There must be a difference in terminology between the US (?) and downunder because what you call a split pin, we call a roll pin. The term cotter pin is also used for the split pin by some people here. Not attempting to have cheap shots, as this is the best vid I've seen on a whip build for finishing off my deer hair jigs

@goomahead3886 @goomahead3886 well... you're right, sort of. But shooting a video on the fly, sometimes things said are not that accurate. However, although the pins are typically known as roll, they are also known as split. I've made some improvements in the building of the whip finisher and am planning on a new video. I just don't know when yet.

Fully chastened here, 😢 .. The first result was a temu (they're everywhere) set of what I would have called roll pins 20 minutes ago. This was on the Google Australia site and I should have researched instead of being slack. You never stop learning. I subbed to your channel and look forward to more interesting content, and appreciate your work.

Back again .... Thank you very much for the link to the x-large whip finish. Managed to find a welder with the tig rods and had some leftover brake tube. So with my trusty tablet on the workbench, I managed to swear my way to the finished product and a successfully feathered maribou banana jig. I never realised how hard the rod really was at close quarters, with the only two thickness' available were 1.5 and 2.4mm, and the former being too light. Thanks again from the Pearl Coast of Western Australia. 👍
