What LBS or weight are we talking. Say I fish a 9 to 12lbs mono tapered leader for bonefish what would be the body of the furled leader made from? Also, you can;t tell in the video do the hooks on your machine spin the same direction?
I already making my own furled leaders. I have a simple machine not as fancy as yours, but it works. Iam having a hard time finding a website or email for hog creek leaders? looking for more information.

Hello. The video and its content are excellent! Lots of information for self-taught fishers, although I would not hesitate to buy your leaders. My question is if your device could build longer leaders, even thinking about creating shooting head type fly lines. I am sure that the transparency and improved presentation could help in fishing in conditions of very cautious and elusive fish in clear waters.
@FrugalFlyRodder7 күн бұрын
@santiagolesta there really is no length limit. I can do 9 foot leaders with the current setup. I'm new to this, but I'm a fast learner. I imagine if I went longer than what I have, faster motors and a heavier tensioning system would need to be developed.

How much of a difference to articulated flied make to catch fish? Is the juice worth the squeeze?
@FrugalFlyRodder18 күн бұрын
@czechnolike I don't think articulated flies themselves catch more fish because of action. I do know larger flies can be made with smaller hooks, and for some fish, a larger fly is worth chasing too many fish.

Nice Pattern,Thank You.I believe there is truth behind the pulsating uv light during the curing process.They recommend starting with the Pulse initially and then finish with a steady beam.This info came from a major manufacturer.On another note were you going to demonstrate making a latex sheet?Hence the name,i like how you navigate in showing us quality items/techniques in this great craft.
@FrugalFlyRodder2 ай бұрын
@danjohnson2098 I'm definitely not an expert on UV. So, I never gave it any thought on the sequence of pulsating first or last, but what you say makes sense. I have had a lot on my plate the last few years, and hopefully, I will be able to bring to light a lot of things I started over time since starting this KZbin channel. I'll try to work on the latex thing over this winter. Thank you for your support of me. I just want to have fun and sharing it with people... fun, yeah, that's what I'm an expert in.

@FrugalFlyRodder2 ай бұрын
@michaelhornung7266 I bought them off Amazon. The problem with them, is they are cheap and did leak until I came up with a way to stop the leaking. It was the simple use of adding an o-ring between the bottle and lid.

Another point of view on this is that you can create tube flies using cheap vinyl tubing, weighted or un-weighted, without being committed to a particular hook or hook style. With the leader being threaded thru the tube body, you have the option of going with a weedless style hook if desired. This concept can be used for everything from micro streamers to Musky and saltwater patterns. Nobody talks about this.

There must be a difference in terminology between the US (?) and downunder because what you call a split pin, we call a roll pin. The term cotter pin is also used for the split pin by some people here. Not attempting to have cheap shots, as this is the best vid I've seen on a whip build for finishing off my deer hair jigs
@FrugalFlyRodder4 ай бұрын
@goomahead3886 @goomahead3886 well... you're right, sort of. But shooting a video on the fly, sometimes things said are not that accurate. However, although the pins are typically known as roll, they are also known as split. I've made some improvements in the building of the whip finisher and am planning on a new video. I just don't know when yet.
