Making a Layered Mandala using Silhouette Studio and Glowforge

Using Silhouette Studio Business Edition to create a layered mandala file for cutting with the Glowforge. Some of the skills shown in Silhouette Studio include- offset, subtract, trace, bring to front, center, change colors, and change cut line color. For the Glowforge I pre-paint the material then mask the wood before cutting the mandala layers. Some of the Glowforge skills include- score, ignore, cut, and troubleshooting. Awesome! I love hearing when someone has success following along. Sometimes I wonder if my explanation only makes sense to me 😆 I'm glad yours cut through 😅 For your previous post, if something non-PG doesn't cut through check that it is laying flat on the honeycomb use the hold down pins if not, make sure all lenses are clean and installed correctly, if those check out then either bump up power or slow down speed. Do a test cut of the new power or speed first (like I should've) I bump it up by 10 til I have success. If you do all that but it won't cut using PG material, then it's time to contact GF because PG material is supposed to be guaranteed to work and could lead to replacement material or machine.

This is awesome. May have to give this a try today. I am having a lot of problems with it not cutting thru even when using proof grade. Any suggestions?

Just curious I looked at the tape your referring to in description and it says not to be used with any laser cutters. Have you ever had issues with it?

No I have not. I have read others contacted the company to ask why they added that sentence and they do not want to be liable for laser fires. One of the main causes of fires inside a laser cutter is when the tape comes up and is hit by the laser beam. Always make sure to scrape any tape down onto your material and never leave the laser unattended :)

Hi. Thank you for sharing all of these. I find it very helpful. What thickness of the mdf board that you used? Do you have a recommendation for this?

I believe this project was the 1/8" which is the Medium proofgrade. I think it depends on how thick you want your final project to be or how many layers you want to stack. Thicker material or more layers means a thicker and heavier final project of course. Hope that helps!

The pin looking item is called a Pin Pen and it came from a craft vinyl company. I also use a plastic razor I got from Amazon.
