Loving the video and starting a bag! Inspired by you! The one thing I’m having trouble with is finding a press to emboss my logo into the bag. I’ve already got a brand I had made for wood turning but I’m really struggling to find an affordable press. Can I ask what is the one you’re using and if any other watchers have any recommended presses or ideas for what I could use ( or tips to make the crappy one I’ve got work better!). Thanks and keep up the great work. Subscribed!

Thanks so much! I actually got gifted this Arbour Press from my father inlaw. The only tricky part about this one is that the branding block has to be straight before you apply any pressure. I've been caught a few times when it moves slightly and the branding ends up skew, then the whole item is basically wasted. I'd still recommend it, but brand with caution. Lol. I'm not sure if anyone else could recommend another option for but this one was bought at Adendorff Tools in Cape Town and as far as I know was fairly inexpensive. Hi Akbar! Thanks so much for subscribing!🙏🏾 I started off buying needles, an awl, waxed thread, cutting mat, steel ruler and a pair of good scissors. what size pricking iron were you using? I've been using a 4 mm, but I like the look of the larger spacing you used.
@Luke_cpt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Alexis! In this video the pricking iron is just shy of 4mm. It isn't diamond shaped though so the holes are smaller. I've noticed that diamond shape prickers create bigger holes which is easier to get the needle through but once you tighten up the stitching, your stitches get slightly smaller. (I hope that makes sense lol)
@aquanator3134 жыл бұрын
@@Luke_cpt ahhh interesting, i guess the perspective made the spacing look larger than it really is. Beautifully done!
@Luke_cpt4 жыл бұрын
@@aquanator313 I think so! I actually don't use that specific pricker anymore. I pushed the limits on that one and found out that it struggles to go through more that 3 layers of leather. Good afternoon Tell me, please, if you need to make a bottom of 12 centimeters in width, then on each side make a cut of 6 centimeters or can it be less? Perhaps when all the seams are sewn and turn the bag inside out, then outwardly it will not look nice from below? Tell me how best.
@Luke_cpt Жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, the cuts need to be half of what you want the width to be. If its less it will not line up properly and you'll be left with a gap. If you are doing it for the first time, try with a spare piece of material before you use actual leather. Also always start with a slightly bigger piece so that you can trim it down to the perfect size. I hope this helps!
