My favorite thing about this video is how clearly it demonstrates breaking down the end goal into smaller steps, and achieving those individually. It's hard to design a domino dropping machine, but it's a lot easier to design all of the individual bits that go into it.

i’ve been wanting something like this to be made for the longest time and dude you did it!!!! and with the controller too!! this is absolutely amazing 👏 I’m wondering, can you make one that is compatible with standard toppling domino size? (H5 Domino Creations are 24x48x7.5mm in dimension)
@JKBrickworks Жыл бұрын
Yes, I actually bought a box of your dominos to test when I originally designed this. 😁 These LEGO dominos I built are pretty much exactly the same size as yours (48x24x8), so yes, they do work. As I recall (it's been a while) your dominos have a bit more texture than the LEGO ones, so it's a bit harder for the machine to push out the bottom one when the cartridge stack is full.
@Hevesh5 Жыл бұрын
@@JKBrickworks oh nice!! indeed, my dominoes have added surface texture for better grip so I can see how that would affect how it would work with the machine. regardless, that’s super cool. I am so impressed!

yes you are..
@RecycleBin03 жыл бұрын
@mrSquid nah thats bad practise because human error. the easiest way to do it would be to have a dummy domino that is on top of the normal dominos. the dummy is slightly too tall to fit through the slot to be ejected and so the motor will keep spinning but not drive the wheels and the domino ejector arm. you would replace the 24 tooth gear with a 24 tooth saftey clutch gear. clever huh

This really makes me miss Domino Day. Idk if it is known outside germany, but it was a big TV event where a truly ginormus Domino track was setup and toppled, with really creative techniques, making domino pictures that change as the bricks fall and so on. They always aimed to get a new world record for the biggest domino chain reaction. It was nerve racking, sometimes whole sections wouldn't fall and they had backup tracks that made sure the chainreaction wouldn't stop at a failef section

For the cartridge system, might get away with Technic legs that drop into place rather than click in, make it a bit easier to swap out since youre not clicking into place, just setting down and taking off. Means less pressure applied to the build every time. Really cool design all things considered!
