I would take the black pick guard off and add a clear one made of either the clear resin you used or maybe clear plexiglass. This way you don't hide the beauty of your hard work. Now that I think of it, if there is a newer player playing it, having the black pick guard could make it easier to see the strings. But once that's not needed, the clear pick guard would help reveal everything hidden. The guy playing didn't seem to need it. He's pretty darn good!!

I'm 53. When I was 16 I worked at a place that made corian countertops. Since then I've had a dream of building a guitar out of corian. The neck would be a single solid piece running through the body with hollow wings to keep the weight down. The wiring would be done before the back is put on, then the back glued on so the guitar is seamless without access panels. I'd love to see this made a reality

Haha! Rock on Charlie! That needs to stay in the family, it will be special to him for his whole life. Happy days! You have so much room, and everything in the world to make things. You should totally make your own TV show where you cast 10 People to make something of your choosing, and have a couple of celebraty crafting Judges that kick one person a week. You could let the winner work with you or get a prize at the end. You could pitch it to the director of the show that you worked on. I know that it would be a big hit with you producing it ♥

That's because he didn't make the neck. He lied about it. Check the grain on the one he cut vs the one he used. They don't match at all. The blank he cut was also as thin as the headstock on the one he used and, even if he'd glued on the fingerboar, wouldn't make up for the difference in thickness. Dude's a cheat.

Having built a few guitars from scratch myself, you under-emphasized the challenges of building the neck from scratch. The nut slot part was good, but what about how you did the truss rod, the fretboard radius, the slotting for the frets (indeed a very critical part of any build), fret installation, fret markers, etc... Truthfully, I think there's more to making that neck than there was to making that body. In fact with the way your editing went, it almost looks as if you started to make a neck that looks similar to semi-complete ones that you can buy online, and then abra-cadabra! you have a neck that looks exactly like some that you can buy online. I absolutely love this video because of the project, but for a fan of wood-working and instruments, I felt slightly cheated out of witnessing some of the bigger challenges to the project as a whole. Also it could deceive someone into thinking it is easier than it really is. Great content, this is the very first video of yours I've ever watched. Thank you for being on KZbin!

Exactly! No disrespect here for that amazing work in the body, but to build a neck from scratch, that alone is a way bigger challenge. Anyway, great work!

I was thinking the exact same thing. When he started on the neck I thought: really, he's doing a neck from scratch?!?! And then the next thing we see is a semi finished neck and in the end, when fully finished it is fretted and has a truss rod. So I too think that he swapped it out in the end for a bought one. But who knows (well I guess Nick himself does).

100% agree with this. Add to that, I couldn't see any cut out on the back of the neck to take the truss rod either. My son has asked if we can do something similar, which I'm going to look into. Our idea is to use a Pacifica 112 as the base build guitar for moulding, which means we'll also have a neck from which to work with. There is no way I would want to start trying to make a neck.

Acrylic guitars used to be massive in the late 90s when I started playing guitar and I really wanted one. then they went out of fashion which made me sad :-( lol I think I have to make one after seeing this cool video!
