hey every one
so i'm making somedry hopped honey beer! mainly because I love the stuff and have no beer!!!!! these beer/larger kits are great to use on their own or as a base for you're own additions. if all grain brewing is you're thing then you go for it.
i prefer the less fuss and less clean up.
i am dry hopping with lemon drop hops so thats going to be interesting, they smell amazing. i'm usually a citra fan but any citrus is going to make me happy :)
the music i use (epidemic sounds) can be found: bit.ly/3qL28fK
a couple of amazon amazon links
simply larger: amzn.to/3pcicH0

I am trying something slightly different it's half and half (approx.) Caramelized honey to medium dried malt extract so it's more of a malted mead.

Hi mate. I love braggot beer and have experimenting using Brown sugar (ok), treacle (very good) and planning to caramelized the white sugar for better flavour with lemon rind

hey patrick :) caramel honey beer is my current favorite beer. i know i'm going to make others but this my personal go to :) caramelized sugar should be compairable to honey, well the cheap stuff at least :) lemon is good with pretty much everything. i do have some of those bread yeast lemon beers ( in an ale sytle ) in bottles just waiting for that feeling to crack a few open and try them out ( plus its bread yeast so waiting is never a bad thing )

Have you any experience using the tiny bottles of flavourings used for baking in your brews ? I was thinking of making a sugar wash and freeze distilling it and perhaps try adding some mint essence. I tried years ago to flavour a sugar wash by adding a few packets of Polo mints but it's didn't really change the flavour. I just wanted to know if you knew how much flavouring was needed and if I should flavour it after the freeze distilation or before. I don't want to do it if it's going to take more than a couple of those 25ml bottles of cake essence because it will end up costing too much. I know I can buy flavourings designed for brewing but I want to do it as cheap as possible with things available in the supermarket.

hey, I have, they really can't be made super strong without making everything taste dry and rough but for a subtle undertone they are pretty good. adding it after saves the guess work as it concentrates everything good and bad :) if you're looking for something minty try my sugar wine mojhito vid kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3OziGabrbaBgqc

@@makinghomebrewwildandcheap Ok so probably not worth the hassle, I might give it a go with fresh mint at some stage. Maybe I'll try to make Blaand instead. Thanks for the reply.

@@jay71512 different people, different needs. turbo yeasts have their place if they are used correctly. alot like stills, its how their used that makes something good or bad
@shcomptech
@shcomptech 3 жыл бұрын
@@jay71512 Yeah I thought about making a still and have tried the stock pot method before, but I'm not into it in a serious enough way. I only use bread yeast and cheap fruit or honey, nothing fancy. It's been a few years since I last made any, I think it's the boredom of the lockdown that has me thinking of doing it again. I don't even drink myself these days so I'll only be giving it away, that's why I do it as cheaply as possible.

Intrigued by this... So you just use the mat from the incubator? Obviously the bucket won't fit in 😂. I spent Autumn building an insulated box to live in the garage over winter months for brewing but it needs a heat source...

Have you used those simply kits much? I see a lot of comments saying bagged kits are not as good as tinned ones but tbh I use the wilko 8 quid kits so I cant imagine there is much difference

Hey Daniel. I have used them a few times now. It really come down to personally preference, like cola from a glass bottle Vs can 😜 since we are messing about with them anyway, it matters not.
