I agree, seperate the containers by a couple feet(23-30), u could put a overhang on them.. have lockable storage and a place to back in a car or something, or WE'R sure u could come up with another usage for the covered space !

In Indiana, they tax the shit out of anything permanent. So I placed 2 containers 14’ apart, built a 16’ flat roof between them secured with stake-pocket hold-downs, attached a back wall, and covered the whole structure with metal roofing from Menards. Sprayed everything Oliver Green, and the whole tax-free 30X20 storage area is invisible sitting back under the trees in the corner. Still looks great after 18 years! 😎👍🇺🇸

The same problem he has with modern battery chargers is the issue with the solar battery mainteners, they cant revive and maintain a dead, bad battery. They need to have enough of a charge for the computer to detect and maintain. But replacing the batteries in all his machines would be a small fortune.

I enjoyed watching you build the pad. We use those shipping containers for storage here in Alaska. The flat pad is super helpful but we also put timbers or blocks at each corner to lift bottom the container up a little. It seems a little easier to level it that way and it also keeps the doors up a little higher so the snow that builds up all winter is less likely to obstruct the opening. Cheers

I appreciate you Andrew. In my youth I would run around frantic and do half the stuff twice. Be more deliberate and do it once is my current vibe. Set yourself up with a few 50w solars with cheap charge controllers and put them in seldom used equipment keeping them topped off. Batteries last longer and they frigging start when they are needed.

That is definitely a job worth doing! Not only does it make it easier to use the containers, but drainage underneath them is dramatically improved also, thus helping to slow down any unwanted corrosion. I have to say that I am absolutely smitten with that large piece of mountain that you own. That was indeed a very good purchase. If I were miraculously to come into a large sum of money, lived in the USA and in the highly unlikely event that you were to sell up, I would most definitely be in the queue to buy it. Whilst the stars aligning in such a way is nothing short of a fantasy, it does demonstrate how much I adore that land and that absolutely wonderful view of the valley. Now, all I have to do is find somewhere similar here in Japan, which is a far more realistic option!!

For my big equipment I always installed a battery cut-off switch if I was going to park them for more than a day... and eventually I set up a solar-powered battery tending system so all my batteries were being trickle charged when the vehicle sat. I had some old equipment with power draws... so this saved me weeks of time. I don't know what will work best for you, but you seem pretty frustrated about the batteries draining when you aren't using the equipment... I bet you'd come up with something 10 times better than what I had. Thanks for sharing these projects with us - and I love your building plans for this mountain property!! I can't wait to see those plans come together.

Hey Andrew, another Andrew here -but I just go by Andy. Been watching your content for several years now, and must keep doing so as I like how you do things. (And how Cody barks at you when you're yanking on a recoil!) I'd also never comment here unless I thought it might be the least bit helpful. So as far as your continuing issues with dead batteries on your many machines, like with the Bell B30E dump truck: Get 1 or more lithium iron phosphate 24V (or 12V) batteries, strap them to hand truck (or weld up a custom holder) connect in parallel or series as needed, and attach long beefy cables with clamps. (plenty of KZbin vids on how to make your own hand truck inverter/ power station systems) What batteries to get would be the question here, get a Fluke clamp multimeter (or something like it) and measure the inrush current when starting various machines, and then get batteries with a BMS that supports that max amperage output or the proportionate fraction of it... And also nice to see that you have found a new partner! 🍺😜👍

Hello AC, In the Army, we had all kinds of huge tents for operations space and mess halls. Maybe something like a huge 50'x50' tent would help you there? Kind of a semi-permenant thing as you complete your new castle on the mountain. Just a thought... it would at least keep everything dry when you need it. If you bought a used one, it probably comes in a shipping container that you get to keep.

I have owned and repaired heavy equipment for over 60 of my 79 years and I know how battery disconnect switches work.

Depends, many are very shitty, you want one with an actual controller and atleast a 20w panel. The cheap ones often back feed power or have an always on LED so they actualy drain the battery.

At some point in time you could add more gravel to the right side and make some distance between containers,make a roof across the 2 of them if you have to work on something right away getting out weather,snow,rain. Maybe close in the back side across to shelter you from wind,cold using that other container. A sub emergency shop to change something in a hurry to finish a job you are working on. Just a thought to have something handy to get to for minor repair stuff. Even a heavy duty tarp as a makeshift roof. Your work is fantastic, your equipment is a life saver.

Firstly I loved the video, the little tips on efficiency are great. Batteries so get it ...some say just put a battery isolator on the terminal so the battery keeps some kind of charge , but as we all know electrics drain the battery keeping settings. Isolating them and disconnecting means the time to set them up again every time you use the vehicle etc. I have to agree with others about solar charge panels on the roof , enough to do the job efficiently. Would be interesting to see you do this to those loaders or excavators. I just think it would be helpful to you and others to see you fix the issue once and for all and make for a good video idea. I know it's something that you have to deal with all the time taking up time charging batteries before getting the job done .. hey Awsome video on a Tuesday morning in OZ (Australia).. loved it .
