I would love to see more replicas of Barbie clothes. You got it spot on although the eyelet material is not as sheer, but that’s ok. It came out adorable! And the hat is so chic, so easy to make when I saw it on Patreon. Happy sewing! ✂️👗✂️

What an interesting pattern. I'm always very intrigued by garments that are shaped by tucks/gathers/pleats/darts as opposed to seams & multiple pieces. Seems more economical, fabric wise. A lot less waste if you're just working with squares/rectangles/triangles.

My mother taught me how to sew when I was younger. (She was professional machinists before I was born) (And my grandma used to make and sell clothes from her home) although I was always interested in it, I didn’t really do it much and completely forgot about it. Your videos are one of the things that inspired me to start sewing again and I’ve been really enjoying it ! My sewing machine is the one I had from being younger and my mother only brought me an inexpensive one for practice. It’s not very reliable and can be frustrating but it makes me even more happy when a project comes together decently ! My mum has industrial sewing machines and a serger in our craft room, they were my grandmas !!! They’re singers and they’re still in amazing condition, unfortunately we haven’t been able to find any needles for the machine so I can’t use it 😭😭😭😭 I was very bored during the college break and it was a lovely way to spend my time ! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

I think you did an excellent job. It's a beautiful and unusual design and looks lovely on you. For the lace overdress i had a thought you could buy lace curtains from a thrift store. They are really cheap and the lace tends to be in different patterns, and the curtains are always sheer. I'd love to see the dress using that kind of lace.

I think you did a wonderful job on this outfit. I do think a voile or lighter lace would be better for the overdress - one place to find wide nylon/poly lace panels is thrift stores: older curtain & drapery panels are regularly donated and are available for very reasonable prices. I keep an eye out and have found old & new yardage for a variety of projects. If dingy, a soak in oxygen bleach overnight and a hand/delicates wash with line dry will generally fix most issues.

I wonder if you could find more similar lace by looking at lace tablecloths, new, vintage, whatever? I think you did a great job, even though I agree the eyelet cotton wasn't the best fabric choice to be like the original. The pattern itself is great and I'm always so impressed with how you create these just by studying the piece. As someone who is just learning how to sew, I did enjoy you explaining what and why you did certain things. I do like both styles though. I adore this series so much!! Vintage Barbie and Vintage fashion are my favourite things :3 I do prefer the chatty vlog style (although I know it's probably more of a hassle to do) as I like the more personable approach and the insight and explanation of the creative process we get. If you're after a genuine vintage Midge you can get one in pretty good condition for $25- she's not exactly a favourite among collectors. That dress looks mint, and I'm amazed that you found the bouquet and hat too- the dress and overdress are pretty common, but accessories are a different story- I'd imagine they cost you more than the doll itself would! A small note on fit- the straps on the original overdress are not worn scrunched and narrow, framing the breasts, but drape over them, creating a softer and less angular impression. This is shown on the thumbnail Barbie's right side- so if you're retrying the overdress and aren't in love with the ultra pointy boob, draping a lighter fabric wider would create a more original effect.
@subliminalphish5 жыл бұрын
i agree with out on the overdress but i do love that eyelet pattern, as it would double as a insert lace fabric. it is cool looking. one thing you did reproduce an early 1960's dress!! another great job. if you do redo the overdress, please show it on here . i an a patron or you but i guess i haven't just been to lazy to get my forgotten password. dang google chrome didn't store it properly.

I agree the eyelet was too opaque...ones eyes kinda go straight to the yellow....which is a lovely color on you, but not exactly the first area one wants noticed. I liked both styles of videos, this summarized version is more down-to-business, but I also like how the vlog style videos are longer. I watch while I sew, and a long video means less up and down time clicking for a new video.
