If you cut pieces off the head/body vinyl and want to hide the jagged plastic areas a little better, go get yourrself some sandpaper from any good hardware store. Start with 180 grit to bring down the high-spots, then use 600 grit, then 800 grit under running cold tapwater to recreate the original matt look of the plastic. Good luck!

Great video the base you used was very unique and turned out really cute. I do have some paintings advice biggest time saver is to paint you custom with a base coat either black or white then paint the final colors on it.
