This is strangely satisfying to watch. Great job!!

That "C" is a labour of love right there. I think the sign would have looked great even if you had left the cut-grooves exposed. Another option would be to cut-grooves in all the other letters to make them consistent. Nice texture. Cool effect. And you made a handy sliding-tool for your table saw to make all those grooves. Thanks for teaching me that. I usually just slide the "edge" of my table saw in varying increments to get grooves like that. You're creation makes the job quicker and also a bit safer using those two grooves in your table to guide the platform. Very nice, indeed.

This is great! Thanks for making this for us!

I love that Jesus was a carpenter's son & would probably dig all the tools we have now. Of course He would not covet the modern ease of such electrical machines, rather, He would be happy and filled with JOY knowing that at this day and age, we are able to enjoy such technology and build things efficiently. What a blessing for us in this upside-down and sin-ravaged earth.

Interesting how you added those "vices" to keep the letters in place as you used your table saw. I never thought of doing that. Basically, I just push stuff through using the angle-ability on the pushing-protractor-square-thingamajig. Did you make it so that the "bolts' on underneath side don't catch by making it recessed? Good use of scrap materials to keep those letters secure & you safe, although God's angels are really good at protecting us as well.

What purpose does the 9-ball have? Curious.

Are you using mdf for wooden planks? And what thickness please? The end results are mind blowing❤

Thanks, Ambika! There may have been an unfortunate typo in your question :). I used reclaimed white oak planed to about 1/4 inch (6.5 mm).

This is great! Was it a commission for a business or just helping out family?
@DaveHarshberger7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Andrew. It was a commission for a church to go in their youth space. My son, who was a youth pastor there at the time, hired me. So it was a little of both.

What are the light holder fittings you used Dave? Are they easy to wire up etc?
@DaveHarshberger5 жыл бұрын
I popped the light sockets off of a string of Christmas lights and re installed them closer together on the cord. I didn't show it in the video but I sealed the holes at the old positions with liquid electrical tape. It was a trick I picked up from Jimmy Diresta. It is not easy to do and if I was to do it again I would spend the money on sockets made for that purpose.
@savvyuk65155 жыл бұрын
@@DaveHarshberger I think I know the lights you speak of. What alternative sockets would you suggest that you'd use next time Dave? Thanks for replying by the way :)
@DaveHarshberger5 жыл бұрын
I would probably order some candelabra sockets with threaded ring to secure it in place and low wattage bulbs. I can't recommend any brand since I haven't actually done this. I would also consult with someone who more knowledgeable than I am to figure out the wiring. That would be REALLY important in the UK with 220v currents (I'm making an assumption from your handle).

Dave Harshberger ok great thanks Dave. Yes I’m in the UK :)

What kind of bulb holders are you using?
@DaveHarshberger7 жыл бұрын
I had a very limited budget on this so I used a couple of strings of C9 Christmas lights. Popped the sockets off with a screwdriver and rewired them on the sign. I stole the idea from a Jimmy Diresta video. It's time consuming and I broke a few sockets so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it if you have other options. I looked at sockets at www.actionlighting.com and would have used them if it was in the budget.

You are correct! Client (my son) insisted on all wood construction. Metal flashing would have been easier.
