you should use HSS instead of carbide for the lathe tools. carbide inserts arent "sharp" enough for such soft materials, so you will get a much better finish with high speed steel and you will have a lot less risk of breaking the piece since you will need a lot less tool pressure to cut them

What kind of stone block is that ? The one you are saying mother of perl as mother of perl are shells and not this much thick
@kyllonen06
@kyllonen06 2 жыл бұрын
I can't imagine this is actual mother of pearl but a faux mother of pearl material. Mother of pearl doesn't come in large blocks, which is obvious because oysters aren't very big and their shells aren't very thick. Still has a nice effect when finished though.
@brutus3631

yeah he should def specify that it's a faux material, otherwise many people would buy it thinking it's real just to be dissapointed

I would love to buy a ring, made by this channel, except the cheapest ring, might end up being around the 2 to 3 hundred dollar range. I don't know, if I want to pay two or three hundred dollars, for a ring, then have to add fifty dollars for shipping. I'd rather spend that money on shoes or a really high end stand for my tablet.
