I know this is an age old video, and I have no idea why it popped up in my suggestions. But I have to say that spline jig addon to your crosscut sled is the simplest, most genius and elegant spline jig I have ever seen!

This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection kzbin.infoUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.

I really enjoyed watching your video. I am especially impressed by the spline adapter you made for the cross cut sled. I have not used a router rabbeting bit and today I have just been educated. Learning so many things from one video just makes my day. Thanks. Nice job on the picture frame.

Hi. Im not sure about the wood, but is Reclaimed. It was installed supposedly in the seventies in my client house. Dismantled it myself about a year ago. I would say a construction grade hardwood, I had a lot of it.
@glendayle8 жыл бұрын
Can you tell me what router bits you used to make that profile?
@szilardpinter8 жыл бұрын
I think that was a combination of a concave and a round-over bit.
@glendayle8 жыл бұрын
Szilard Pinter Is that it? i can tell the first one is concave, but not sure how he's getting that bead with the second one.
@szilardpinter8 жыл бұрын
+glendayle with the concave bit the wood laying on it's flat side. Then after with the round over bit, turned the wood on to it's edge. The shoulder of the bit risen higher then the the edge of the concave. So it's not just rounding over, but makes a shoulder and a round over.

Why did you add the extra step of adding an insert a piece of wood? You were done after the glue up. Glue is so strong. It looked fine after that - I think you overworked it.

People make this complaint on every video that uses a miter saw or a router. You can make a picture frame with less than $100 worth of tools: a $30 table saw from Craigslist, a $12 hand saw, and a $30 hand plane from the hardware store. You can cut the rabbet and miter with the table saw, and you can build a jig or cut the slot for the splines with a thick-kerf hand saw. (you don't need a miter saw or router). Hell, you don't even need the table saw if you can sharpen your hand saw (with a $5 file and a $20 saw set). It sure is faster to have a thickness planer and a band saw, but you certainly don't need them.
