Looks great! I don't envy you all that leaning over and the ups & downs!

It was brutal. Backbreaking. But I am happy with the result.

Looks great those cuts you put on the backside of the boards, are they to keap the boards from warping?
@BusHuxley Жыл бұрын
That is the idea. I meant to mention that fact in the video. Jeez.

Maybe I missed it, but did you check moisture content of your wood? Best I can ever get my pine to air drying is around 11%, and end up with a fair amount of expansion and contraction thru the seasons.

I didn’t mention it but I should have. It was down to about 8% when I milled it down. It was in a very good spot I guess. I’ll see how it plays out over the next year. It won’t swell any more than it is now, so humid and wet it’s been here this year.

Did you run the screws into the joists?

I did indeed.

What made you choose to glue and screw, as compared to glue + nail?
@BusHuxley Жыл бұрын
I think the ease and wicked lockdown nature of screws vs. nails. Big boards like that will tend to warp a little bit. I meant to mention that I did a little back cut with the small saw to help avoid cupping.

Second! Good morning good sir! I am so glad to see your notes every time! How is your move and project going?

the screws look bad - better to do the fastening on edge so you have a seamless look but it is your floor and at least you are gittin it done
@BusHuxley Жыл бұрын
I love how the screws look! Ten inch wide boards are not great for hidden fasteners. They're all lined up like a compass lines. It would have been a lot easier to do it on the edge, but thats not my style i guess.
