Can you believe .. your moving in this Fall of 2023! Congratulations seems like not the right word. BRAVO All that went into the building of this beautiful home, it was an adventure. I wish you and your family many healthy and memorial times in your home built from tree and with friends.

As always, it is a joy to watch your progress. I have been here from the start and I look forward to each post. I have to say, I have never seen anyone screw down a residential floor before. Should make for an interesting look once finished.

Yeah, i hadn't either, but I am wicked pleased with the results. Little trim heads kind of disappear into the soft pine.

I was gifted some oak hardwood flooring. It is about 2” wide and slow to install. But it was free. And almost installed. Your floors look great!

I'm still one of the 10's of people that watch lol. It looks great. Me & my wife bought 9" wide red pine flooring, & we installed it. And we knew & were ok that it would easily show character in no time. Wondering, what are you going to use at doorway transitions. Nothing on the market speaks to us, & I don't know if something can be made. Downstairs floor & where it goes into bathroom, & we put tile down. Need to hide the gap between wood & tile. Anyway, enjoy that floor, we do every day. Thanks for the video

I am just leaving it without transitions at all doorways. Ill put sweeps on doors to fit with the wonky framing. I caulked between wood and tile.

@@BusHuxley yeah I see. Actually never thought of doing nothing. I definitely made them match height wise, level. But there's quite a gap. Well maybe I could fill gap with piece of wood. I'll have to play around. Thank you Bus...

That floor looks amazing! Good call on doing the floors before moving in. What's the little cut out that you were in when you were talking? It looks like a laundry shute, but I don't think that's what it is.

Keen observation! Just a strange way for light and heat to come up from the big window right below it into my workspace office thing. Fun passages everywhere.

Hey Bus , I am thinking of installing some wide plank fir 1”x10” boards I milled for flooring How often did you screw each board? How long of screw did you use ? How deep did you drive the screws?Any recommended adhesive 😉? The floor looks awesome. 😊
@BusHuxley
@BusHuxley Жыл бұрын
I did three screws across on every board. I inch from the edges for two ans one centered. It was a pain but the consistency paid off with how it looks. I did 1” 3/4 or 2” depending on if I was near plumbing or not. I went 16”oc down into the joists. I buried the trim head screws 1/8 to 1/4” PL 400 subfloor adhesive is the best. It’s and amazingly solid squeak free floor. It’s so much better than I expected my homemade floor to be. Great name.
