Is the new poly urethane construction adhesive a different flavor than the old one?
@epiphonesg0075 жыл бұрын
Port area is too small if you are going to power it over 20W below 40Hz. The port will cause chuffing, especualll in dynamic movie scenes. Ive recently built a portable bluetooth speaker with 2 6.5inch woofers (xmax of only 9mm), I used a 110mm (little over 4 inch)port tuned to 36Hz and below 40hz and over 80W of power you can hear the port slightly. (Which is ok, since the portable amp will only be 100W) Small narrow ports also make the port more prone to port noise. I would go over a 5 to 1 ratio (width to height), unless the port is at least 25% larger then necessary. WinIsd is a great free program for modeling drivers under power.

Sir can u please build me a car underseat subwoofer
@jimthesoundman86415 жыл бұрын
@@epiphonesg007 I agree, the port is too narrow. That's why most ports you see are circles or squares. You can even make triangular shaped dual ports in each of the bottom corners. In most speaker design programs, you can play around with the size of the port, and the length of the port, and the number of ports, to find something that works well.

I'm 67, and watching this makes my blood pressure go down (I suffer from hypertension). I've done many things in my lifetime, but building a set of speakers or a subwoofer is something I've always wanted to do. I really enjoyed your video and soon plan to make an attempt at building something I can be proud of. Well Done John.

Dont use fiberglass to stuff the subwoofer. The fibers will be blown out and airborne into the air you breathe.
@Grommet20075 жыл бұрын
Wrapping the fiberglass in t-shirt material will stop this from happening. Or you could just use polyester fiberfill instead.

Another great build😊 Mine I cheated by scavenging an old Grundig bass unit modding it and renovating the main exterior and now matches in with the surround sound bar next to the Samsung 55inc tv 😊 sounds awesome with real growl 👀 For those not in the know, make sure your inputs are correct 👍ALSO a lot of surround sound speakers are 6 OHM - connection to an amp with 8 ohm outputs may damage the speakers OR the amp unit! IF the outputs are 4 ohm connecting 6 or 8 ohm speakers is usually OK 🆗 Love your vids and awesome workshop

The speaker is awesome , but please remove the fiberglass insulation and vacuum clean the inside. That insulation throws small glass particles in the air impossible to see in most lightings conditions , people can breath that in, and it is dangerous. Sudwoofers move a lot of air in and out of ported enclosures , that's why is not a good idea to put that type insulation in there.
