It actually irks me so much when blade makers almost never seem to use full tang. It makes for a much less solid knife. And when just using things like epoxy gluing two pieces together for a handle it'll come loose after some use. I get it looks nice for a display item but it's really poor for otherwise great craftsmanship.

@sanoma digital Well this particular type I can understand given the handle. However I meant for the others who makes things like damascus and forged. They always seem to make small tang. Its going to be the weak point.

The problem is, they could easily secure the blade in a hollow handle with peening it. But when I make my Rambo knife it’ll be full tang

@@CagedSUPERMAN well the classic Rambo knife would be hollow handle. Which wouldn't make it nearly as durable unless it was forged with a big massive cylinder tang that was drilled out. Of course a standard military issue knife would not be forged anyway.

Nice work but i do have one note of constructive critisism. the saw teeth shouldnt be beveled because it will actually not allow you to saw all the way through things. they were not beveled on the originals either . but they looked like they were because of the satin finish and polished edges to the blades.

Good work but myself I would have only polished the middle section of the blade and left the beveled edges with a grain look to them but that's just self preference, to me cheap high alloy knives always seemed to have a highly polished finish but better quality knives had a grain look to them. Thanks for sharing

High carbon steel alloys that are best for knife making often have larger carbide crystals, those are probably the 'grains' your talking about

У "рамбокнифа" пропил по центру зубцов, для грызьбы "концов" и т.д. Вместительная рукоять для барахлишка на "черный день". А так, вообще не плохо, местами с приятностью. Молодец.

У Рембо в фильме вообще нож был изготовлен по заказу режисера. В жизни такой нож имеет сомнительную ценность. Объединить нож для выживания и боевой нож невозможно, у них разные задачи. Нож с пустотелой ручкой ненадёжная конструкция. Пырнуть в живот он сгодиться, но вот пилить им деревья для костра , надолго не хватит.

If you want one, one must make it, the only other option is pay the thousands it costs for a real Lile. That being said, he forgot to include the Philips and Flat head screw drivers on the guard tips, The Grind isn't a real flat grind, The Saw back teeth have no channel for blood letting, and no lanyard hole on the pommel, Better than my no rambo knife. I have held the real Lile First Blood and Mission knives, a friend owned them along with the Commando knife, the Lile knives were stunning!

Why waist all that material in material removal instead of forging it close to shape before cutting and grinding? Not to mention save all those cutting wheels, grinding disks, and belts. I would like to add on a good note, loved the "poor man's lathe"👍

Except this isn’t a forged knife. It’s essentially cut from a blank which is generally inferior to forging.

Simple answer : Rambo's knife had a round handle.

The hilt was hollow it included wet/dry matches a compass on the very end which screwed off.. I had one when Rambo was new....

Нож конечно сделан отлично, но некоторых штрихов не хватает. Во первых в рукоятке ножа были не только нитки, но еще иголка, леска, крючки и спички, а с внутренней стороны крашки был компас, а на самой крышке снаружи есть стеклобой с отверстием для веревки, на саму рукоятку снаружи намотана черная капроновая нить, а пила на обухе имеет 2 ряда зубьев, а ещё стоит в местах где нет пилы и спусков лезвия покрасить нож в черный йвет или нанаести воронение.

Burnt the steel on the tip no blood groove and the serated edge is all uneven ,all that needed was a line on the blade to know where to cut to . but I'm just a perfectionist when it comes to making stuff if he's happy with then good for him

Oh god there is so many thoughts i don't even know where to start... I don't want to bring down the effort, i think you invested a LOT of time making a knife that is like... 100usd on ebay for the original with box xD 60 for a solid copy xD Ofcourse i admire creating things from junk.... but there is a limit when it would have been better to spend the time working and buy 5 knives on ebay instead xD And so many of the tools being used was so worn out it makes my brain hurt xD 5+ for the effort though xD

Everything was looking great till putting it all together. You have no pins or mechanical safety holding that blade in other than epoxy. Ive been curious as to how strong that stuff lasts and how much wear and tear it can take?

Epoxy is more than enough, especially given the notches he made on the tang. You'd have a hard time breaking it even if it was on purpose.

Leaf spring steel is usually pretty decent for knife making. Not ideal, but does the job.
