I make a Regency/Jane Austen era dress using the fabric from a vintage silk sari I bought on etsy. The shop I used is here: www.etsy.com/s...
This was done quite often in the Regency era, as they had access to bright silk fabrics like this, I found it to be quite fun trying to get a dress out of about 5 yards of fabric. It's too short for me on it's own, so I had to add an extra strip of the border to the bottom, it worked out well in the end!
I had to carefully wash the sari before use as it smelled a bit musty, my friend La Bricoleuse helped a ton with information from her own experience washing theater silks, her channel can be found here: / labricoleuse
