really nice work mate came out pretty cool, no such thing as failure its just another chance to get experience, i have turned spheres loads of em and i have not done one i was proud of yet and for some strange reason they all end up half the original size before i give in and try again, thanks for sharing it lets others know they are not the only ones left with odd shaped paper weights , cheers Ross

That dragon egg came out beautifully. :D I wouldn't say the ball was a failure though. I would cast the ball again in more resin and then give it another go. :D - Heidi

Came out beautiful, I would save the ball and put in the middle of another batch of resin. That way you can try it again with the same ball. Great job.

Ben I would consider stablizing the wood prior to the resin pour this would limit or eliminate the catching in the wood and you already have the tools for the process if you have a vacuum chamber.

Ben, I have a question. I’ve been using micro mesh on resin and my piece always has scratches in it. I try to be really thorough and spend 4-8 minutes on each grade but the final product always has scratch marks in the surface. This is super annoying, just wondering if you ever had this problem and can offer advice?
@BensWorx
@BensWorx 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mate, are you wet sanding? Also make sure your constantly wiping down the pads. I also polish the resin with a woolen buffing wheel and polishing compound
@MirinJawBrah
@MirinJawBrah 6 жыл бұрын
Ben's Worx yep, wet sanding. I do clean off the pads before using them. Luckily, I’ve got a high quality polish called Flitz that seems to be removing the scratches and producing a high gloss

I suspect the problem with the fail is that you didn't stabilise the wood.
