Great video... as someone who does a lot with 3D printed lures even I learned a few new things watching this video. I especially liked some of the design methods you used in Fusion to get the details around the head and the set screws for easy weight change is brilliant too. I'm definitely going to have to use so of those methods/ideas in the future.

How cold is that water you were fishing? I tried testing some of my hardbaits on my resin printer instead of my fdm using syriatechs abs like resin. I was having issues with the material becoming too brittle in the cold and the lip shattering. I still have some minor issues with fdm but it’s much better. I’m working on a polycarbonate blend for my larger saltwater stuff.
@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman Жыл бұрын
some of resins shatter because of water or humidity, i had in box for week after testing printing water washable resin and they had shattered on their own in the box because of moisture. I have been using abs like resin from elegoo since and have not had the same problem both in salt water and fresh. The resins also need some kind of uv protection coat as they continue to harden in uv light and water transmits it quite well so they could over over hardened and become brittle. I am going try tough resin as you blend the hardest to get some give almost like a polyurehtane resin. But the abs is great my kids have been smacking these lures into every bit concrete and occasionally the lake
@HandCraftedAngling Жыл бұрын
@@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman Good to know! If you run into any issues with that I believe syriatech blu clear v2 is the strongest available resin on the market with out spending hundreds of dollars a kilo

@MrKiar1611 Жыл бұрын
how does it perform if it comes to durablity? my cast isn't very accuate and sometimes I land lure to rock or hard surface accidentially. will it shatter or it is as strong as the commerial ones on market when it comes to impact? Im seriously thinking about to get a 3D printer to make my own lure, but its durablity concerns me the most.
@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman Жыл бұрын
these are bteer than expected i have slamded them into a few rocks and not really any damage apart frpm one has a bent hook hanger, this abs like resin so it it pretty tough also it helps that it is one peice rather than two shells glued

@@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman thats brilliant! seems 3D printing has made quite a progress in last 5 years! I was trying to make a decision between resin moulding /curing manually and balsa wood crafting and 3D printing. Now it seems 3D printing is the thing I have been looking for.
