I temporarily built one from brick 4 years ago as proof of concept. Mainly use the rocket shaft to light up the charcoal, but you can also cook with the heat of the fire. 4 years later the temporarily stacked bricks are still standing and I still use it.

Excellent video Diego, thanks allot for posting it. One thought I had was to perhaps add some kind of Heat Diffuser Plate above where the flame enters the grill. It's just an idea I had for mine so that any large flame wouldn't burn the food your cooking and would disperse the heat more evenly like an oven. This way you could cook a pizza and not burn the bottom! Thanks again!

Great performance! For myself, I would add directly above the flame of the vessel, which will prevent the ingress of ash on the products. Thank you!

Use a titanium plate over the combustion chamber sealing the oven that will glow red hot with all the toxic gases being vented out the back and out through an exuast flute. So your food will not be exposed to any chemicals that might have been within the fuel that was being used. ; )

I'm about to convert a thicker home made BBQ grill that is roughly the same size as yours. the bottom is rusted out from the ashes sitting on the bottom so instead of just welding a new plate bottom in it, I'm going to include a rocket style feed system with a diffuser in the bottom of the pit to encourage the heat to spread out more evenly. thanks for the visual of what it needs to be. your style is good compared to some that have no downward angle on the wood feeder.

I'm looking for something like this for myself. Great job. Do you worry about soot on your food? Is there a way to control the temperature when your cooking? Make more cooking videos please. I want to see your grill preform more. Thanks!
@diegobadillagonzalez2492
@diegobadillagonzalez2492 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, didn't really worry about soot, for temperature control what i do is just change the amount of lumber, it's a pretty basic design. Will do more videos as soon as i can, thanks again for your comment.

put a diffuser so the flame wont burn the meat and distribute the heat evenly, by diffuser i meant basically a little platform about 1 in tall and same size wide as were the fire comes out , this way the flame will hit the diffuser first and distribute the heat all around and not just the middle.

This type of design for a rocket stove seems a bit more visually appealing. It looks a bit less DIY and more familiar for people who don't know anything about rocket stoves.

Great concept. Would add deflector plate though. You get refractory cement that you can line the inside of the rocket stove with. You have to increase the width and height of the rocket by factor of 2. The cement sets around anchors welded in place. Pop me an email and Ill send you pics of our commercial model. Our email can be found on our About page. Cheers! Kobus
