Modifying another inexpensive cymbal for effects! This time I drilled 8 equidistant 1 3/8” holes in a Sabian B8 16” Thin crash that I got for about $30 from Guitar Center. Way better than spending $150 or $200

sabian b8s were NOT a thin crash they are like pretty heavy, thin cymbals are b20 cymbals FYI

The cymbal literally says thin crash on it. It may not be a traditional thin crash but it is thin for a Sabian B8

I know you meant to go for the trashy sound.. but I thought that b8 thin crash sounded great before the mod! lol it didn't turn out that bad though..

Just glue an metal washer below keyhole to protect it from cracks growing. It not really help but it will make it 10 times slower

I got a broken B8 18" out of the bed of a friends truck, sounds neat. I dont play drums, so Im just calling it a brass noise disc and beating it with a screwdriver. at least until I find something better. its also hanging from a rope off my ceiling fan...

Lol that’s funny

The first kit I borrowed to jam with my friend only had one broken cymbal, no stands, but a 70's Rogers kit. So a piece of string hanging from the ceiling was the quick solution. It was some upgrade from all those years of classroom desk jamming. Oh it also had no bottom heads and no snare drum, lol..

We have the same hi-hats, any reason you went with the Zildjian S family hi hats? I have made a few ozones with brass cymbals. I used the sabian Pro hi-hats for many years, but prefer these Zildjian "S" mastersounds for sure! Have you tried mixing any other hats, like b20 with b12?

I got the mastersound ones- the S series are affordable and sound great

wd40 can corrode the bronze. I had a zildjian zbt 14 crash that I sprayed wd40 on and it corroded over a week or so. I prayed some on my pedals bearing but missed.

Some of the older B8’s sound great honestly, but the newer ones are kinda crappy sometimes

Man spends more time buying expensive equipment and making videos on mods than he does practicing the instrument he has.

You don’t know how much I play.

If you play a lot then you suck more than I thought. It is fine to be a beginner or just a once a week kinda thing. But you showed in this video that you do not know what you are doing and you really need some lessons on cymbal hole making and also drumming in general. Watching you struggle to get through the cymbal and needing it clamped (I assumed it has warped areas from the clamp) had me worried.
