If you have a fireplace in it, it's easily found! From seeing the smoke when using the fireplace to the sent of burnt wood near the area! Also just seeing rocks stacked neatly next to a boulder would be a dead giveaway!

If it is your wife hunting... I mean "looking" for you.... It would be just fine. Using fire only at night, makes it very difficult to trace. Assuming that there is no visible light.

A shelter such as this offers superb protection against wind and rain, two elements which will increase the chances of getting hypothermia, even in temperatures as high as 15 degrees Celsius. With a nice little fire going inside the shelter, you'd be toasty warm and comfortable. And while the fire might increase your chances of being detected, the complexity of the rock formations surrounding you would make the shelter harder to find. Nice work.

I had found a similar outcropping of large boulders on the front range in Colorado, their were literally large house size boulders stacked on top of one another several rooms were large enough to put up a small tent inside..in a emergency this was a go to place about 30 minutes from my rural home.

I'm guessing what makes it untraceable is its distance from civilization. Me being an outdoor kind of man would just follow the footprints, then see the cut limbs and sawdust. The ripped straw(weeds) from the saw, would make me think, "someone has a cool hideout here". Still a very cool hideout.

Don't throw away egg shells, there are a few uses which can be beneficial to you and the environment. 1 : Crushed and added to soil, shells are 90% calcium. 2 : Crushed and added to vinegar and alcohol makes a gel that makes fires easier to burn. 3 : Experiment with shells to make a fire retardant.

As a boy some of my friends and I would scour the fields and remote areas for a camp or fort. We did find an old unused culvert, dry as a bone that we cleared out and made accommodations for a camp fire, sleeping bags (but never did stay overnight) and where we could play hooky (which I got caught skipping school). We kept our fishing poles and other camp accessories there and used it for two summers. That all came to an end once we hit out teens - it was just "little kid" hijinks by then. So, I don't understand these videos of men that build these things and video their remote hideouts. It's kind of creepy. Some of these videos show cooking food in these caves, lean-to's, thatch hutches, etc. I mean to each his own but it's kind of weird.
