Making a Sally Leg Lamp

The last Christmas themed build of 2023 will be a mashup of A Christmas Story and The Nightmare Before Christmas. I decided to turn the "major award" leg lamp into a Sally themed build. In this video I made my leg lamp out of: 1 manikin leg, 1 fifteen inch round table top, 1 lamp bottle kit, 1 shade holder, fake leaves, 1 Sally costume, 1 lamp shade, Worbla, screws, leather waxed thread, 1 smart bulb, Minwax Polyshades black, spray paint, and some acrylic paints. You may also need the following tools: a Dremel with various bits, heat gun, blow torch, and Exacto knife or box cutter. Finding the center of the wooden round is easy with a framing square. Lay it on the round with the point of the right angle just touching the outside edge. Mark where the two legs intersect the edge and draw a line connecting the two points. That's a diameter. Repeat at a new spot and where the two lines intersect is the center.

Very true. This, however, was not centered exactly because the foot is not radially symmetrical. And because it was up on a tiptoe, I had a smaller window to make the hole run through the base and leg. I just got a general idea of center and visually made it relatively close.

@@603me. no bad, for sure that method is a valid way to find a center and could be helpful to someone in the future going through comments with a question of why I did it the way I did. I appreciate the sharing of ideas. 👊

instead of tiring yourself out "sew" with a needle, you could have cut pieces of thread and glued them with epoxy glue ou uv resin 😊. Love de result 🖤🖤🖤🖤

I knew there would be some comments about the sewing. 😄 puff paint would be even easier. I thought about the resin route, too, but that would have taken even longer and probably just as tedious

The build id good, but I will question why the base was painted the same black as the shoe? There surely could have been many other options?

It was not my initial plan. I wanted a dark mahogany stain and just got the wrong color. I am probably gonna add some more leaves to the bottom to break it up a bit. I ran out of time, trying to get it done before I put out the video.
