Simon. Thank you for video! Do you have short instruction video about downloading samples to EAD 10?

Hi Tony. Not at the moment, but guess I should. I'll try and do one very soon.

Thank you so much, Simon, for this video. I've been waiting for it for ages! Please tell me, will this method also work with hi-hat samples? I have BFD3. Regards, Tony

Totally. It will work with any samples. Obviously hi hat is more difficult to dial in as there are more options, but yes, all good.

Where can we get these samples

This was helpful in understanding how making layers works. I am having a problem with some included dtx percussion sounds (bongo, conga). If I tap lightly it's an open conga and if tapping harder it's closed. I thought I must have made it layered but it's not. There's only one sound assigned to layer A and none to B,C or D. I can't feel like I have any real control over these (single piezo triggered) sounds. Thanks.

Those sounds are dynamic samples, so they DO change depending on how hard you play - from closed to open for example, and those changes are fixed so you cant change them. however, there are 2 ways around this, depending on which module you have. Do you have the Pro or the ProX? You can limit the dynamics using the Min-and Max-Velocity parameters under Trigger. But if you have the Pro you only have one trigger setting, and you won't want to keep adjusting the settings. In which case, record yourself hitting a pad at the correct dynamic (using the USB recorder), clean up the sample, and then load it back in as a one shot sample. That would give you access to the layers as required. On the ProX it is easier as you have multiple trigger settings so you can limit the dynamics to give the correct sound and save it as a user preset. So, simplest way of doing it is sample the layer you want and then load it back in. I hope that makes sense.

Appreciate your reply. It's a DTX-Pro. I wasn't aware of "dynamic samples". Are there many of them included with the DTX? Maybe a list? That would be good to know as I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure this out. If I adjust the trigger settings on one kit to compensate, for example, for the open and muted conga, would that setting still carry on to the rest of the kits? Not completely clear on whether trigger settings are universal or vary from kit to kit? Thanks.

@@cSounds49 The trigger settings on the DTXpro are universal (which is why I mentioned about the DTXproX having multiple trigger settings). If you look at the voice list in the manual (also available online) anything with "SW" is a switching voice. They tend to be percussion. The easiest thing for you to do is sample the layer you want (or record it onto the USB drive) and load it back in. Then you have total control of which ever level you want.

is there a way I can get a free multilayer sample to practice importing like this in the video on my own? I have the dtx pro module.

HI Simon! I was trying this method, but "can't process" on screen.. Can you explain- on flash drive do you put files not in folders-correct? Im put my 6 snare samples to root (no folder), because module can't see folders..in Im numbering my samples and type like you A01,A02....and another... What I'm missing? Bitrate this time correct 16bit WAV :)

Hi Tony. You need to use a clean pen drive with NO other files on it, otherwise the module will give you that message. You load the samples in up to 10 at a time, no more (you are fine there). They must be 16/44.1 or 24/96 quality (you are fine there too). Try it again, but if it doesn't work email me and I'll try them.

48 kHz 24 bit.wav or 44.1 kHz 16bit.wav? What works here?

Hi Tony. 16 or 24 bit, 44.1 or 96kHz. Not 48kHz at the moment.
