You have, for some reason, managed to turn one of the inputs (bass drum?) onto Scene Down so every hit makes it go down a kit until it reaches Arena. Go to Menu / Utility / Pad Function / then hit everything until you find what is set to 'dec scene'. Change this to Off. Press Exit 3x.

@@alexmanojmathews The DAWs dont sound amazing - thats the EAD being recorded onto the DAW. Connect the EAD to your computer with a USB cable, open up Studio One, set the EAD as your audio interface. Set one audio channel to record through the EAD. Set one midi channel to record MIDI from the EAD. Hit record. You should then have one channel recording the stereo audio data from the EAD and one recording the MIDI data from your kick channel.

I was literally thinking about this scenario the other day with a friend. I’m building an IEM/Split Rack that our band can bring to venues and don’t want to deal with the hassle of splitting all the drum mics. This is also a life saver for any of your other bandmates using IEMs cause they could get a nice stereo drum feed/bus and not have to worry about dealing with more than 2 drum channels in their own IEM mix. Great video!

It would sound like a Traps kit but louder I guess. Traps kits dont project very far so I'm guessing the floor tom would be quite quiet but everything else should be OK. At least the bass drum has a steel hoop so you could use a Ddrum Redshot trigger for that, but how you'd mount the Sensor Unit on the bass drum would take a little more thought.

Using EAD, Evans dB One mesh head and LV cymbals, which of the following is recommended to use with: Yamaha MS45DR, Roland PM Drum amp or Yamaha PA speaker ( for a small room)
@edruminfo22 күн бұрын
Hi Ellie. none of them I'm afraid. The EAD uses microphones and having it in a small room with speakers, at a volume you'd hear it over you hitting the dB Ones is going to cause feedback, just as any microphone system would. You're going to have to use headphones or In Ears. Hope that helps.

If you change the scene knob to control click tempo, how do you change scenes at all? Or do you just leave it at whatever you picked first? (In this case ARENA).
@edruminfo27 күн бұрын
Not quite. When you put the knob into Data mode it actually changes ANYTHING on the screen so if the Scenes are on there, it will change Scene. If you have the tempo on the screen, it will change that. It will just change whatever is on the screen, not JUST the Scene. Try it - you'll see. I hooked keyboard (Yamaha PSR-290) MIDI out to DTXM12 MIDI in. Keyboard volume down. I press any key of keyboard and no drum sounds are heard from DTXM12. Are there setup steps missing from the video?
@edruminfoАй бұрын
Not that I'm aware of. Are you on MIDI channel 10? Is your M12 set up to receive MIDI or is it set to USB? It needs to be on MIDI (which is how it comes from the factory) so you need to go to Utility / Midi / MIDI IN/OUT and change this to MIDI if it is not already.
@RalphWLundvallАй бұрын
Found the answer. The PSR-290 is off by one octave. I just have to set the keyboard voice to Standard Kit 1. It now will activate any kit the DTXM12 is set to by keyboard presses. So easy. Indeed, any MIDI voice set on the keyboard (Grand Piano etc) is captured by Pattern Recording.

None of these reviews ever shows what the kit sounds like with no drum sounds. What would the neighbours hear?
@edruminfo2 ай бұрын
The reason very few do, is because there's not much to talk about (or hear). Also, on a video it is difficult to actually gauge how loud something is, so you could hear the pads being hit, but it would be impossible to tell if it were loud or not and if it would disturb your neighbours.

Thanks for the video. I have a DTX10 on order and have been reading the online manual ahead of arrival. I noticed that you left the big felt washer in place on the cymbal support, but STEP 9 in the assembly manual under "Assembling the hi-hat stand" states be sure to remove the felt washer when assembling the electronic drum kit. If you leave it on, you will not get the proper playing feel. Is it best to leave this felt in place or to remove it?
@edruminfo2 ай бұрын
Thats because not everyone will be using it with a Yamaha hi hat stand. Some hi hat stands have a much thicker (and softer) bottom felt, which can slow the open and close response. Yamaha stands generally have a thin bottom felt and I've found it makes little difference whether it is left on or not. You might find different and prefer the feel without it, but try it and see. The bottom washer already has a neoprene bottom, so its not essential to remove the felt. As with all these things, try it and see for yourself. See what works for you.

Thanks for posting about the EAD10. Your videos are helpful for a newbie like me. I have a question. I have my EAD connected to an Avid MBOX Studio Interface by using the 1/4” L/R EAD Outputs to the 1/4” 5/6 Line Inputs on my MBOX. Does the EAD Outputs require pre amp mic inputs on the interface? Thank you again!
@edruminfo2 ай бұрын
Hi. A few things here. No, it doesn't need mic inputs as the (mic) signal is already being processed in the EAD and the outputs are jack plugs (normal), not XLR (the 3 pin connectors found on the bottom of microphones). But also, you don't need to connect the EAD via an audio interface - it has one built in so just connect the EAD to your computer with a USB cable and find the EAD as an audio interface. Much simpler.

They're great provided you're not a lefty. Having purchased the kit and set the frame for a left handed user, I was very disappointed to find that the audio is backwards. As a lefty my hat is on my right and my floor tom on my left, yet the audio has them the other way round. This is a shame as the older, cheaper DTX4K had the ability to reverse this audio. Fine if you're right handed, but at the price it would be nice to switch the audio. As it is, all I can do is wear cheapo iems, as good iems have ear hooks designed for the right ears, as do headphones.

Great video again, thanks! One question: how and where can you separately control the band volume in the monitor mix from the drum throne?
@edruminfo2 ай бұрын
Thanks Richard. In the video, the band are coming in on the XLR provided by FOH. I've got that going through a passive headphone mixer, and I can adjust the volume of the band by turning the volume control of that up or down. To get the mix correct, you have to balance the monitor feed, with the click, with the kit, which takes a couple of minutes, but once its done its pretty quick to nudge volumes up or down as required.
@davesisson18992 ай бұрын
have you tried to run the ead just into a drum monitor coming back at you? i've never tried earbuds, anyway result was feedback, as you might think.
@edruminfo2 ай бұрын
It will feedback - the microphones in the EAD Sensor will pick up the monitor - that's physics. This is an advantage of IEM - they lower the stage volume (no drum monitor) and much less likely to feedback unless you have them incredibly loud.

@edruminfo2 ай бұрын
Hi. Many of the samples are stereo and already panned more one way than the other which for a left hander is a problem, as you've found out. You can not universally flip the stereo field of the whole kit, but there are 2 options. Firstly (and I know this sounds stupid but it works) wear your headphones the other way around. However, that doesn't always work, depending on the headiness or in ears. The other is to get a small mixer (more than 2 channels) with panning. Then plug in the master outputs and flip the pan with the pan controls. This is the much better option.
