I've been making and resizing rings for over 8 years, now, and I truly love your methods! I tend to be a bit obsessive about perfection and crisp surfaces. ;) Thank you, Ford Hallam!

Thank you for posting your process, it is very helpful. I have done some work in copper, and look forward to doing some in silver. Yesterday, as she watched, i made my wife a 2 inch wide hammered copper bracelet as she requested, with matching earrings and a necklace pendant. Your videos are always very helpful!

Can you tell us about your torch?

I liked that touch with the scraper to break the edge. It’s akin to an edge beveler in leather work. Question. If you look at the ring in my thumbnail I made it from a batch of that copper/silver alloy you showed how to water cast. I cast a small nugget and drifted it, I then opened it up on a mandrel. I did the same with silver and opened the silver ring into the copper one. My question is this, is a ring with no solder a stronger ring or am I just fooling myself. Glad you’re making videos again, they are relaxing and very informative, albeit far beyond my skill set.

Hi Scott, I suppose that in principle a solid ring with no solder join might be stronger but a well soldered silver and gold band is pretty secure. What it would come down to in terms of workshop practice would be the time involved (time is money) vs any real practical benefit.

Ford Hallam's Japanese Metalwork Channel thanks for taking the time to reply. Did you ever post the rest of the iron tsuba carving, I think it was from a meteorite?
