One of my favorite things about woodworking is seeing the different solutions and approaches to a given problem. Your jig is awesome and I am very tempted to make this version over others that I've seen. I will look for you plans on your Facebook page. Well done! I have been inspired!

Thank you. The ere a large parts jig available ? I need to make hardwood sash window components to same thickness and don’t want to buy expensive machinery. Eg use a number 7 jointer plane on a sled with adjustable height.

Hi Mike. I’m planning on making one of these jigs so I’ve watch a number of videos recently. I do like your design. With the adjusters working independently do you have much trouble setting it for parallel pieces? Also, with being partially sighted I struggle with low lighting. The light fitting you have that extends over the vice would be ideal for me. Could I ask where you got yours? Thanks. Dave UK.

Nice little jig. I only just discovered your video as I'm searching for a jig to create my own veneers. I'm just wondering how fine, what minimum thickness you can plane a piece of wood too? I'm guessing that little piece of wood you worked on is approximately 5x5 mm. Can you achieve a veneer thickness of 2 mm, 1 mm, I doubt this jig can go any size thinner? Greetings from Thailand.

Thank you Aragorn De Dolor, I hope I answer this correctly, so the thickness off the veneer can be adjusted on how much set you have on your hand plane, even if you set your plane to a very deep setting you will still have very thin veneers, (the Japanese are very good at this technique but never seen them use a jig) as far as the width goes, that would all depend on the width of your plane and the jig, you can go smaller than 5x5 mm, you just have to support the piece with a couple of wedges, (really hard to explain what I mean here) you can go as small as you need, you just need to make supports/wedges to hold it in position, hope that makes sense, do you have access to a bandsaw? Thanks again for the message and greetings from England.

I think this is pretty clever. Have you noticed any down-side to this? Specifically I am curious if there's any wobble on the ends? Thanks for sharing.

Hi Terence, thanks for the nice comment, small parts jigs are awesome and you wonder how you’ve managed without one for so long, so are so good at sneaking up on a perfect fit while keeping everything square and parallel, I don’t have any trouble with wobble towards the ends, I find a bit of candle wax applied now and again and keeping your plane reasonably sharp definitely helps, if you can definitely use a hardwood to as they can wear quite quickly, candle wax also helps with that problem, hope this helped 🤝
