Theres a very good reason the acoustic guitar have that particular shape, which is based on centuries of perfectioning the wuality of sound and projection of the instrument. And just like you, I also dont care. Great build, beautiful, original instrument and it sounds perfectly fine from what i can hear here. Thanks a lot for sharing, way to go!

Sounds incredible. Box joints would look great on the corners.

Love it Steve! What’s the thickness of the soundboard?

Sounds good. Be interested to hear it as it settles down. The wood colours makes up for it being square nessus

It looks like this video is about 3 years old, but I see comments here from just a few weeks ago, and this is April 24, 2024. Hopefully whoever posted this will still get the comments. This was very interesting to watch, thank you for the video. I recently got into Cigar Box Guitars (CBG) and have been watching some build videos along with the lesson videos, and this reminded me of that. I'm going to look at the other videos from this channel, hopefully there was some type of follow-up after the guitar settled in.

I’m always up for trying to make new things. Been thinking of making a guitar but the curves were slowing me down. This looks right up my alley! Do you have any plans on making this beauty?

Is all that side bracing necessary? I haven't done much work with steel strings on acoustic instruments, only some canjos and cookie tin banjos, where I had the neck running through the body, and only a few, fairly slack strings. High tension seems to kill off the sustain with such bodies.

Isn't the top supposed to be from a conifer tree, like spruce or cedar? Edit: redwood, not ROSEWOOD. Sorry! 😊

But WHY!? What's the point? Is it because you can't steam-bend sides etc?
@hxhdfjifzirstc8947 ай бұрын
I think that's the main advantage -- steam bending is a hassle that a lot of people don't want to deal with. But you can still make a decent acoustic guitar with straight sides.

Nice. I would be much more impressed if you made the neck from scratch, radius the fret board, measure, locate and install the frets, design and scarf the headstock, locate and drill the tuner holes, make the bridge and make all the adjustments so it actually works. This is a little like building a kit.

If this is the University of California at San Diego all I have to say is "It isn't a square, It's a rectangle for f**ks sake".
