You made some homely construction waste into a thing of beauty, Robin. Really nice how you exposed the lines on all sides

Great idea and execution for the stool as well as to promote "The Shop Stool Podcast". Easily my favourite podcast where I learn a lot about tools, technique and timbers as well as being introduced to a wide variety of interesting and talented makers which all combines to make the podcast inspiring and something I eagerly await each fortnight. Cheers, David

I think you should have cut the top into strips, glued them back together so you had exposed plywood on the top aswell. I love the end product.

Shop stool plug.... had to be done 😂 The straight grain cutting was great, plus it looks like a solid shop build that will stand up to some abuse.

Thanks mate. It’s definitely a beast

I've never met LVL before. So it's essentially like plywood, but with the grain all running the same way? It's an interesting pattern, I like it where you see the layers overlap at the joins within the wood. And you've ended up with a very sturdy looking stool for the shop :)
@RobinLewisMakes3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think they're made like that because they need to take load in one direction, but plywood can take it from any direction

Just a quick question about your drill press. I've been looking for a new bench drill press, and saw the Full boar ones on the Bunnings website, I was going to go with a sherwood but they don't have the Variable speed adjustment which is what caught my attention with the full boar's. How has been your experience withe your's? I know your's is a pedestal one but surely they would be similar.

I really liked that timber n I liked the stool. It looked really sturdy. One thing though, your accent has me curious. Are you from New Zealand? You don't have to tell me, like I said I was curious. Have a good one, mate. 👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘

It's a South African accent you're hearing, I've only been in Australia 8 years

That's the most expensive stool I have ever seen given that the LVL offcut was worth about $1,000,000 in the USA at the moment 🤑🤑🤑
