Just a little video of me messing around with the functions of my new Nektar Impact LX25+ controller. And making a little synthpop tune in the process.

sick song! Really came together at the end! Love that spacy lead you were playing at 5:57

There's a couple notes in the drums that don't hit quite right, I noticed. It was good for a demo though. Another commenter asked about what voice that lead is. I am going the check and get back here with what it is. Thanks for liking the song! Listen to some of my original music here on KZbin (or other platforms as listed in descriptions).

Really appreciate it. I'm sure I could refine it much more, plus some of the timing is off. But it was great for a little demo.

I'm sold, been thinking about getting this one or the akai MKII and your video is making me swing towards Nektar, thing just looks neat as hell and at the same price of the MKII. Nice Video.

Make sure you check out one in real life. I had an Akai MPK49 controller and was not happy with the feel of the touch sensitivity. It's weird and uses a different way to determine MIDI velocity. On this Nektar, I got it because I wanted a smaller board for travel. I like the big keys, but the feel of the keybed isn't the greatest. Feels a bit cheap. Like I said, make sure you try out what you are gonna buy.

Not at all. The Nektar Impact LX25+ is only a MIDI controller, meaning it controls external software and/or hardware. The sounds in the video are soft synths on my computer (VSTs). And thank you!

I plan on picking up this controller soon. It's hard to choose between this and the 49, but I don't have much work space. I wish SO BAD that this had a MIDI out. Then I could use it on the Microkorg. I despise mini keys. Nice tune by the way! It makes me think of goth synth wave.

@EricCPowellMusic

I wouldn't say that any keyboard will make you "professional" or "good." It's not about the gear as much as it is about learning and listening and practicing. I'm not sure this is the controller for you if you are just starting out, but if you find a great deal I say go for it.

Roland System 8. Very nice synth in a lot of ways. Also emulates Jupiter 8, Juno 106, and JPX3. I have quite a bit of trouble getting it to play nicely with my DAW and the patch management is terrible. But wonderful sounds and look.

Hey, I am a real beginner here. Looking for a good DAW. Gonna end up spend my money on a microphone rig (blue yeti, a stand, and pop filter coming to about $60) and this controller. Really tight on a budget. Currently using Garage Band for iOS? Any suggestions?
@EricCPowellMusic
@EricCPowellMusic 5 жыл бұрын
I know it's been a while since you posted. I use Logic Pro X (only for Mac OS). Starting out without a lot of cash, I would suggest Studio One cuz it's cross-platform and the entry level is FREE. If you are not using a computer, I've heard Auxy is great for iOS at auxy.co (Check out DarwinMcD at open.spotify.com/artist/0fpxWguhgkdpSNp22ohecN)

Not sure I can help. This setup is exactly how it worked when I connected it to my Mac laptop and Logic Pro X. It kinda sounds like your mapping needs to be adjusted. I suggest googling the words "Nektar 25," "mapping" and your DAW to see what solutions are online.
