I really like this type of video and I had no idea about the magnet tool tip! Just some "constructive criticism".. It's great to hear Lizzy and I'm all for getting everyone involved in the channels, But this felt very robotic. I don't know if it was because there were subtitles on the screen the whole time, but it just felt like she was reading a script rather than talking to us about her tank. I really hope to see more videos with her aquascaping though. Getting more details about why she chooses to place hardscape in certain areas would be nice too. Thank you guys!

Hello thank you for sharing. We are new to bettas and betta tanks. Can you tell us where you purchased that tank and what brand it is. We have our betta in a 10 gallon tank. Our plants keep dying. We want a slightly smaller tank with a clear/glass or plastic top so the lights can hang over the top. Our current lights are attached under the black lid of our tank which makes the lights extremely bright I bought the gravel and plants with the beta at a shop. The man told me I could use gravel with plants. I didn’t know gravel can harbor so much waste. And make it difficult to glean out with a gravel vacuum. We would need a top for the tank as our house gets extremely cold and dusty. We can’t find a tank we like that fits my descriptions , Its really difficult to find a tank with the specs we want. Im guessing I should get each part separately and build our own. Rather than buying a boxed tank with all the bits inside already. Any suggestions would be appreciated. One last question. I was told by many not to add any sharp objects in the tank as it could damage the bettas fins. We’ve been very careful not to do this. Our bettas find are already tore up a little. I believe my mother may have been over feeding him. 😥 we honestly have no idea how this happened. He seems okay. He doesn’t look sick. We will get the water tested soon. Thanks again. 🦋❤️

What keeps your over enthusiastic Betta in the tank when he jumps, because of the high water level ( What about drafts?). And, my Bettas always became ill with temps higher that 72 to 75. Water temp cooler than air temp. Beautiful fish and tank.

I just want to say, I did this with my shrimp tank. Pathos sucks up a lot of ammonia from the tank and starved out my stem plants. My anubis is getting along fine though because it grows a lot slower.
@Exquailibur2 жыл бұрын
Is that a variegated monstera plant? must say that one's white is rather minimal which is nice for several reasons, ive seen variegated monstera with more white than green. The white areas on variegated plants limit the chlorophyll and the plant's vigor with it, though with large or fast growing plants that can be handy.

Thanks for the the great little aquascape tutorial. Just wondering if we should cycle the tank first before adding fish. Thanks in advance :)
@animalname07282 жыл бұрын
I've always wondered how youtubers that aquascape add fish immediately without cycling 🤨
@SteenfottAquatics2 жыл бұрын
@@animalname0728 Its simple, there is no need to cycle. The betta can not produce enough ammonia to reach toxic levels with this many plants, especially pothos.
@wee50852 жыл бұрын
Yes you should cycle it. Imo it helps prevent your fish, whether you have one or just multiple, from getting sick. My last betta fish was perfectly healthy until I put him in his new tank without cycling it (my mistake) and he got VERY sick and died. I added a bit of plants and am setting up a new tank and my current betta is doing great after his tank was cycled. I’d say cycle your tank, it will help with disease and make your fish a lot happier :)
@horse24draws92 жыл бұрын
Yes always cycle your tank, it’s good to wait at least a week, but you need to give time for the beneficial bacteria to grow

It's not necessary to cycle this tank before adding one fish. The betta can not produce ammonia faster than the plants would absorb it.
@carolinesalpeck25672 жыл бұрын
@@SteenfottAquatics as experienced fish keepers we know that water changes and the plants would probably be enough to take up any ammonia that one fish creates but for the sake of the viewers that this video targets which are new fish keepers, I think mentioning that generally a tank should be cycled before adding fish would be the best thing to do in my opinion

@SteenfottAquatics2 жыл бұрын
There is zero reason to wait until a tank is cycled for one betta fish with that many plants. Especially adding the pothos, it will eat that ammonia as fast as it can pee it out.
@viktormichael8212 жыл бұрын
Bettas are hardy, as well. IME, they are. Although, this isn't a begginers video. Assumptions aren't useful, but one would assume, the 'scaper in question, knows about CL and NH2CL. And what they do to seeded media, and sensitive inhabitants. But, assumptions..
@LizzieBlock2 жыл бұрын
The Aquarium Co-Op channel has countless videos about cycling and conditioning. This was simply a quick video on how to set up a pretty-looking tank for your fish. Long answer: Of course I made sure the tank was safe before adding the fish. Cycled media was used as well as water from an established aquarium that the betta was already living in. I test the water often and make water changes as necessary with conditioned tap water. Using pre-cycled media is wicked effective. Zero ammonia or nitrite since setup, nitrates around 20ppm (for the plants). I even added crushed coral under the larger stone during the aquascaping process to prevent pH swings since my tap water registers exactly zero KH (pH buffer).
@carolinesalpeck25672 жыл бұрын
