It would have been nice to see the tub filled. I'm seriously considering this as my next project, but I would likely slope one side of the tub for actual tub use.
@kalatbasura3 жыл бұрын
I love the idea but every time you want to use the Roman tub you have to scrub and clean the whole surface area including the grouts for molds and dirt. You don't want to soak on dirty water right? And that's a big job everytime! Not to mention the technical aspect of waterproofing the whole wall area of the tub before tiling. Without waterproofing water would eventually seep in the wall behind and cause leaks and mold- big disaster.

I have a couple of questions because I have been considering having Roman tub built, instead of our current, however, is a shower curtain needed to contain the water spray? Also, if you are taking an actual bath how do the river rocks feel to the bottom? (I know that is a crazy questions, and I normally wouldn't ask except we literally just bought this house and the bathtub has anti-slip texture and it really hurts my skin.)😊

Its supposed to glue up to 1.5" pvc and the stopper is right there at the surface. This link is for venetian bronze finish $$$. Built in drain plug I hope but I doubt it the tile leveller is a wast it you have to cut the plastic tabs off leaving spots water can form and grout is thin if you use a trowel with a 1/8 or 1/4 notch and a level shower tiles can be placed with out the extra steps I get the same looking results free hand

Huge mistake on the drain, should have used one from a company called trim to the trade, it has a pop up plug and you just simply use the one that you have now in the pony wall as a overflow gets rid of the rocks out of the wall , probably won't use that type of water proofing. I think the hot mop is the best way to go

would not have done it this way. bumpy river rock to sit/lie in for tubbing? doesn't seem comfortable. also, it's sooooo big, would take all day to fill. waste of water much? also, there's a lamp on the wall right outside the tub. nope. also, there's a faucet snug up under a shelf. nope. as cool as this seems, the video lacks all the important details. how do you angle to floor properly to drain into the drain? what do use to grout the tile? where is the ceiling fan for moisture ventilation? Not what I was hoping to see at all.

I love the effort but it seems the owner/builder got carried away. That's too many shower fixtures! Plus this is the problem of diy contractor. This kind of installation is a disaster in the end in so many ways: Firstly, no waterproofing was done in the wall before tiling. Especially that it's gonna be a tub, water would seep in behind the tiles via grout! Expect leaks and molds in the wall and the adjacent rooms. Secondly water pressure. As you can see, the water out of rainshowers and body showers anemic. Imagine more when all fixtures are opened at the same time- it'll be an expensive drip drip frustrating shower experience.

I want to see the bath tub work too. final part of video was not very good, u spent more time showing a the useless water fixtures than the how the bath tub was a success. personally, to much money on all those water fixtures. @GaryMaurizi5 жыл бұрын
would anyone care to explain how they plan on stopping the water to fill the tub? because they explain their crazy overflow solution and skip right past the fact that they arent using a trip lever, toe touch, or twist and turn drain.... I'm trying to solve this problem at this very minute and this video is literally useless to me showing a roman tub that literally can't be filled with water... also this is destined to fail very quickly as hydroban does not have the perm rating to use for submerged applications.. you absolutely MUST hotmop or use an uncut folded PVC liner and clamp ring drain for this to last more than a few years without destroying your house. They also skip right past explaining their little leak around the drain... my guess is they used a kerdi floor drain and plan to throw a rubber mat over the drain to fill it up... You CAN in fact find 90 degree turn low profile clamp ring drains that fit inside 2x4 studded walls to execute a proper overflow on the wall of the tub if you look for one, and there are clamp ring style roman tub drains available to order for around $70 with built in 2 inch twist and turn stoppers. OS&B makes the clamp ring overflow drains that fit inside 2x4 walls and plumblingsupply.com makes a 2" FIPS cast iron clamp ring shower drain with 2" twist and turn roman tub stopper, I'm just not fond of this solution myself. I would like to find a way to execute a trip lever solution using a normal clamp ring ABS shower drain base that is threaded into a trip lever bathtub kit and find an overflow arm for it with threaded bolt holes for a clamp ring? So far this seems impossible though, I can't come up with a way to clamp down the standard overflow drain+arm in a standard tub kit onto a pan liner. :(

I am dealing with this situation right now trying to find a tub drain with overflow that will work with a pan liner.
