Taking on the challenge of grinding this titanium knife and starting to work on the guard. Its no small thing to try and grind titanium into a knife, but with a lot of time and (belts) It does seem to work! Hope you enjoy this video, be sure to check out part 1 if you haven't and thanks for watching!

Enjoying! You as a person and the skills you own. Thank you man! You bring a smile to my face when watching the first videos of you today. I only have one suggestion which could improve your work and your wellbeing when doing so: get some more lights in your shop... A Christmas atmosphere is great sitting next to the tree but when looking at detailed work; bring on the sun! I equipped my shop with led lighting a few months ago because I'm getting older and cannot see small details outside when it's clouded or rainy or when working overtime. It was really cheap; $100 for two 15000 lumen lamps above my worktable. I should have done it years ago... I think it would approve your working pleasure too. Just a small hint from a fellow from Holland. Thank you for sharing, keep up the good work and stay safe, best! Job

The key to machining titanium is keep the heat down, run coolant or at least a cold air gun. Coated carbide endmill with a smaller chip load , .015-.020 stepdown with what looked like 100% tool engagement should yield better results.

I feel your pain with sanding titanium. I got a titanium 10mm wrench/bottle opener/keychain from The Waterjet Channel. Sanded mine to 2000 grit, then buffed and heated the ends for the color. Even that tiny little keychain took hours to sand!

@Sebastian-ed5kt

Forging is much cheaper than machining and easyer to learn You just need a block of steel maybe 100mm round (~4") by 100mm as an anvil, a hammer and a heatsource (the king of random coal forge does a good job for knives up to 15cm bladelenght Machining: a lathe and a mill would be the fundamentals but thats very expensive (the lower end pieces start at 800€ for the lathe and 2k for a metal mill, wood costs about 1k if you build it yourself)

so would a titanium knife be a whole lot better or not than a traditional steal knife??? for example is it really brittle in comparison? I suppose it would hold its edge longer. would you say this is a knife for heavy use like bush whacking or something that would have to be cared for like a kitchen knife?? If this piece really is brittle though would it be able to hold a super fine edge like a kitchen knife???
