For anyone wondering, you can use rice to take volume metric measurement and then get the exact amount you need to use.

This is great information. I am just getting into making holsters and it isn't cheap. I am having to do small purchases to build up. However, watching videos like yours and being able to make your own jigs is extremely helpful for us trying to get into the business. Thank you for the explanation of how to do do the jig.

Just a thought what about mixing your Kydex shavings in to the epoxy so you use less epoxy?
@FalTacUnlimitedLLC Жыл бұрын
I do that, along with cut offs of the epoxy as well.

Holster sensei I have a serious question I need your help with something What do you use on your heat press to keep it from burning the kydex
@FalTacUnlimitedLLC Жыл бұрын
you have to adjust the time and temp with every heat press. mine is at 390 degrees at 165 seconds. you need teflon sheet between the heating element and the kydex. kydex bubbles when there is too much moisture in it, so preheat it(leave it in the press without closing the press) and then press it.

Why does the router not chew into the trim jig during trimming of the kydex?
@FalTacUnlimitedLLC8 ай бұрын
It rides on a bearing
@Dub4568 ай бұрын
The jig is in contact with a bearing on the router blade, while the sharp part of the blade is cutting the kydex? Sorry for being so slow. I really appreciate all the effort you put in the videos. I really wanted to make some holsters for my um, flashlights, and you have shown me how to accomplish this task.
@FalTacUnlimitedLLC8 ай бұрын
@Dub456 that's exactly it. There is a bearing at the bottom of the bit that the jig rides on. And this is a flush bit so anything above the bearing is cut

Ive got a question for you again, if you don't mind. So I'm creating my list for my shop tools. I like the router because it takes away having to sand. Do I need to use jigs to successfully trim kydex with a router? Or could I trim with just the kydex?
@FalTacUnlimitedLLC Жыл бұрын
Try it and let me know how it goes lmfao. You need jigs...
@TheSSPodcast Жыл бұрын
@@FalTacUnlimitedLLC Haha well on that note, I'll stick with sanding. Thanks for the update lol
@FalTacUnlimitedLLC Жыл бұрын
@@TheSSPodcast there's a bearing on the bit that rides on the jig. Otherwise holding just a piece of kydex on a blade turning at 17000 rpm is the most dangerous think you can do in this game
@TheSSPodcast Жыл бұрын
@@FalTacUnlimitedLLC that makes a lot of sense. I thank you for the updated information. I watched your video on how to make your own jigs, so later down the line that is something I will do. Because those jigs are expensive, but worth it in the long run.
