I this video I show you how to make an adjustable Edge Guide Trim Router Jig.
The Trim Router or Palm Router is one of handiest little tools in the shop and in this video I make it even more useful by giving it an edge guide for better quality cuts both with and without router bits with bearings.

I recently purchased a router exactly like the one you used in this video, I find it so handy and easy to use, and when I make my jig it will be handier yet. Thanks for the great video, as always I learn something new.

Wow what an idea. Use table saw to make or start slots. I never thought of that! It's so obvious!

Thanks Colin for yet another brilliant lesson. I used one of your previous ideas today and used some Perspex on the base of my trim router to clear out an area of wood that the router on its own could not do. Thanks again mate. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

This looks like a very useful jig. I'm sure I'll make one for my shop. When I use the factory base plate as the hole template I plan to use double stick tape to prevent the template from moving as I mark the holes. Double stick tape has 1001 uses around the shop. I enjoy all your videos and have built many useful shop items from them. They have made my shop time more accurate, more enjoyable and above all more safe.

Hi Colin. This is an amazing trick. I was thinking how to make a slot on a Pixi glass and I did not know how to do it therefore, I went to you tube and your video came up. I guess the system and you read my mind. I really appreciate your instruction.

Excellent video. I like the use of plexiglass because it improves the visibility of the work. Using a very similar jig with two supports and a plunge router would be good for mortises. Again, the improved visibility makes the jib easier to use.

Reference DrRepper - a word to the wiser. The drill turns clockwise so have a clamp on the left so the edge of the workpiece can be pushed against the clamp, (or the drill will do it for you if it "rips" the piece out of the other clamp) thereby preventing mayhem! Although ive never known a pillar drill do 30,000 rpm!

Was impressed with the jig Colin. I have a question in relation to 'squareness' (if there is such a word) I am a novice with is why I watch so many of your videos as I continue to learn. Because so much is made of having things square when doing cuts etc., does it matter if the running block sits square in the base plate slots? The other thing I was thinking of was marking the plastic base plate with a marker at each slot so that it is the same distance in when you tighten the run-in block. If there were marks at given intervals, then if you wanted to do a groove further into the work piece it would be more precise? Thank you for any response to my question and thoughts.

Hi Colin, watched a number of your videos and always enjoy them, as you are usually very detailed in instructions. I watched this one 3 times to be sure i wasn'r missing something while watching it. i just have to ask though, in the video you go to the drill press for the four holes, then suddenly at 4:48 the piece has the center hole done magically, was there a step you missed in the video.
