Amazing work! My only minor criticism is that the buildings appear to break apart before the water hits them.

Phenomenal. The physics part in Blender gets the least amount of attention for years now. The particle system is like 20+ years old now and the mantaflow fluid system is out of date, the development of the framework itself has stopped years ago and the dev who implemented it in Blender has left blender as well hence there hasn't been any developments. I've spent months and months trying to get good sim results in Blender and finally had to learn Houdini but you crazy guy actually did it. Hopefully, the new node based physics system will replace all of these old systems in Blender will let people create more complex yet better looks unified sims in Blender.

Dude I'm soooo excited to see where the simulation nodes go. I've already seen some really promising results! Hopefully it can kinda replicate the Houdini workflow eventually!
@xanzuls
@xanzuls Жыл бұрын
@thevisualdude8286 Yeah, keeping the old system just because people can't learn new features wouldn't be a good thing for Blender as a whole, then it will never evolve in the long term. Beginners aren't gonna be beginners forever. And if you're talking about each feature for physics being one node in the new system, that's not decided yet but I can imagine that would make the new system easy but very basic and rudimentary in the long run. The physics system in blender is very old and it's not gonna go well with the new node based system as nodes are the future for Blender (Everything nodes project) but they are most likely gonna keep the old system until the new system gets all the features enough to replace the old one.

There is still room for improvement in the splashing effect and the interaction of objects with the waves of a tsunami, especially in the foam aspect. You can use Dynamic Paint to achieve this function

excellent work and explorations/troubleshooting with a standard blender no third party addons these types of tutorials are invaluable to the people understanding and getting the most out Blender as it is for everyone, and can show that things are possible without masses of money and addons to achieve results that in context and with a narrative can be as accessible to all who enjoy doing it and using Blender! much appreciated!

5:21 I really like the way your are aproaching your videos. You dont really care if something is not perfect and in the end it turns out really amazing. like for example the stones just randomly shifting. Do you know why they randomly shifted?

That's one hell of an undertaking for one guy at home. I love this kind of stuff, the endless shortcuts and tricks and I also love when everything is done in the viewport, which is basically what I'm seeing here - no compositing other than some postprocessing right? Great stuff, here's one more sub

Damn, this is looking amazing, I love what you did with the trees. It would look more realistic if you split the buildings into bigger chunks that stick together though, instead of smaller pieces, specially the roof, like you did in the advanced destruction video, and eventually it gets swallowed by the wave. Building pieces stick together in big chunks while they're collapsing. The wood supports are also very small, so they would just break in half or around the top or end. I suppose it would be faster to render as well. The tsunami scene in the movie "Hereafter" is quite a nice example of what I'm saying. 👍 You inspired me to get into CGI someday, your videos are awesome, seems like a cool thing to try.

you reach the blender fluid sim potential. The water flow after destruction seems quite planar. you can do some post work in after effects to add more waves to add realism.

Some stupid hint to save some braincells for those who use blender fluid sim: Its better to set particle size to 1.05 so particles would not just disappear randomly and not made fluidsim looks retarded AF... yyyyep
