Making a tube bending template with my Affordable Bender

Join me in my journey with this Affordable Bender. :D
I've seen the pros do it, make yourself some cheater templates of various bends on your bender, and then when you're building, you'll have a real representation of what your bender can produce right there in your hands for mock-up. It's also handy to know how much tube you need to make a bend! So today I'm doing both. I'm making a template in my 1.5" die, AND learning how much tube gets consumed to make a full 90 degree bend on my Affordable Bender. Check it out!

Instead of repositioning the tube, just release the tension, back it up, then twist the screw jack out on the jack.

to reduce snapback, heat it on the most stressed part with a yellow torch, let cool remove tube smile at your leet sauce work, crack a beer, hi five your dog, move on to notching and welding er in place hehe.

Did you extend your jack adjustment screw? Generally if you extend it, it reduces slack and allows you to reach your 90 degrees.

Looks like you need a more stable stand that is zeroed in both directions. Make life a little easier. As far as the tube, I did the same thing you did. I made a 22 1/2 degree bend, a 45 and 90 degree.

does the top of the bottle jack unscrew?? if so, bend as far as you can, then release it slightly, then unscrew the bottle jack to get the extra jack length to make a 90 degree bend. does that make sense? like this bottle jack in the link.... www.amazon.com/dp/B00FX96250/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_oHMoFbZVK5YFM

Nice content dude. It is weird, it looks like you have the latest bender model, it soposed to bend 90 at the fist time and 110 with the 2nd, this is a copy/paste from Affordable bender page: "Our all new design. Allows for up to 110 degree bends. Simply bend a 90, slip the tube through the die and bend up to an additional 20 degrees totaling 110 degrees of bend"

Yep, Ive seen the same from their site, but I had the jack fully extended, and it was less than 90, as noted in the video. I may write them and see if they have any suggestions. but in my experience, it gets about 82 degrees on the first pass.

I have the same one and it will do a 90 but the trick is not to unclamp it but release the ram and screw up the jack some more. Then start jacking again. I have the same one and i have bent plenty of 90 in a drag car chassis.
