Brilliant. I have never seen a uke build demonstrate so many unorthodox, yet effective, techniques. Then to play the instrument with significant skill. Bravo!

I am just starting to work on my first uke. Never made anything like this before. I like your idea to attach the neck first and then build the body around that piece. Less chance of screwing it up than cutting into the completed body.

Incredible talent! I am not only in awe your skill in raw workmanship, but also your ability to make great music. Thank you for sharing this video.

Creative use of the tools available. Some methods a little unorthodox but they work. Nice job!

What would you call this? Ukelaika Or Balalele?
@stevekreitler93497 жыл бұрын
I like your approach here- I especially like the use of the stair rail (after all, quartersawn wood is quartersawn wood!). I'm building hurdy gurdie's- I think I'm going to use some of your methods soon. My only suggestion would be to invest in a glue brush- I use an acid brush, trimmed down a bit. It gives you a lot more control of your glue layer, and cuts way down on squeeze out and clean up.

It sounds more like a guitar than a uke, perhaps that's an effect of the larger size ?
@RagnBoneBrown6 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s a baritone ukulele so it’s same tuning as a guitar 👍

great job love the channel where ear phones in the work shop gives you a little ear protection and we don't get that annoying noise when you speed it up xx

Excellent. I'll have to find the long version. I did build one but want to do it again in a tenor sized or even a guitar. It sounded to me like your tuning is what is called low-G. If you see this comment, given its been 5 years, could you please affirm?

I was curious about this instrument y she surprised me with a soprano size (I didn’t even know that it comes in different sizes y names)…I got a not average size 🖐 so…she had it returned for a concert size…a solid koa wood Martin was so cool…I thought I should have the next size…y my daughter bought me a solid mahogany tenor size…y I bought another one…y I didn’t know you cabby a kit…to assemble(:
