A significant concern for me, is did you consult neighbour about the problem and work? In general, they may have an associated problem and be willing to pay some costs and allow access.

I'm assuming your mower is electric but maybe best to let people know that if their mowers are petrol they shouldn't store it upright like you have as it will mean that petrol and oil can leak into motor into places they shouldn't be leaking into.

Thanks very much sir for your free learning experience 😊appreciate the time and effort you put into the build, the videos of the build and the going over the bits that weren't quite right. Looking to start my own soon. Much appreciated 👍

Your process could be improved I believe: * use a microwave to melt the wax * warm the oil (could also use a microwave) * mix all of the warm wax with all of warm oil in a large container: you don't get any lump at all and it's easy to mix very well * pour the warm mix oil+wax into the jars. Voila, you're done for the food safe product. For the non-food grade formulae, there's an extra step: add the ambient temperature white spirit to the warm mix, .mixing will be much easier.

Normally if you have black mold it's from condensation. Rising damp or penetrating damp comes with salts that mold won't grow on.

Hallo thanks for the video its been very helpful. By using hygrometers Ive found the high humidity areas. Yesterday I opened all the windows and the humidity went up to between 70 and 80 in some areas. Normally it's between 58 and 70 and just sometimes under 55. Im wondering where to start and after looking at the comments bought myself a pinless moisture meter. Ive found that all the window sills are high humidity some 27 and so far the walls are mostly under 1.Im unsure what to do with this information so far. Ive been asking myself (daft seeing I don't know the answer!) if it would be a good idea to impregnate the wooden window frames with a drying solution. The windows themselves are plastic and some are fogged over in-between the two panes of glass. With good weather and using the dehumidifier in damp areas I can get the levels down however Im now convinced I need to find the ingress areas there take it from there. Ill be measuring the rafters and und the joists under the floor later on. Im not planning on fixing big problems myself but want to understand the situation so that I don't end up paying for unnecessary works or solutions that have little or no effect. All suggestions are welcome!

This is really interesting. 👍 A few years ago I had an old trailer it was years old but rough, so I tidied it up and treated the wood. Worst thing I did. Within 12 months it was rotten. My belief is the preservatives stop the woods' natural defence against rot and probably help speed up the process. I'm not a scientist either, just my own observation.

I’m not trying to be mean or rude in any way- I promise! I love your channel and your projects, but I restored and refinished two outside slat patio chairs and two lounges, two stools, a desk, two end tables, a step stool and a door and have yet to get halfway through my jar of Odie’s Oil. I even mixed some with pigment for the restored outside furniture. You needn’t slather it on- you rub it in with a non abrasive pad of a higher grit than your last sanding, and a small dab goes a very long way. It’s not like other hard wax oils that’s brushed on. There are tutorials on how to apply it. It really saves you money in the long run. I still have the same jar since I bought it in December. Honest- I’m only half way through it. Please give it another try after your final sand is 240 or higher- the surface feels like silk!

I did use a cloth to apply. How do you expect me to apply it on the inside areas of the steps where fingers don't fit? A brush is the only way to do that

Just go to to a cabinet maker shop and see what they throw away… Is unbelievable what they get rid of… Especially the high-end cabinet making shops that do stuff for hotels… They throw away large chunks of black walnut like you wouldn’t believe because they’re getting paid millions to renovate the entire place with high-quality materials… Scraps mean almost nothing to them… It’s amazing😅

@RagnBoneBrown
@RagnBoneBrown 3 күн бұрын
There are some websites online but you'd need to calculate the sq m of the roof area that the soakaway serves (assuming it's to capture rainwater from your roof)

Likewise, I end up doing stuff myself because of experience with too many poor trades people or just outright scammers. I grew with a Father who employed scammers too, so it is well ingrained. Of course there are great tradesmen out there but are hard to find. Did you not think of using block paving instead?
