I like the builds. But most of us here looking at videos probably took wood shop in the eighth grade and made a couple simple things. Also probably couldn’t afford much more than I circular saw and drill and some basic hand tools till later in life. It would be nice if you could explain what you are exactly doing or have a set of detailed plans available. I believe most would pay for these plans.

Yep. I like that sled. Also, I learned a couple things in this video. Firstly, I'm going to need a spiffy plexiglass router table. Secondly, a miter saw can turn a piece of T track into a bullet. rofl. That was hilarious how that thing shot off there. Might be good to add a piece of wood to the dado side so you can use your sled for box joints too. That's a really useful luxury to have a table saw for a single blade and another just for your dado stack. Pretty well thought out all the way around.

Great table but here in Australia I don't know anyone who has pieces of sawn oak that thick lying around. Buying them would probably be around A$ 200 (about almost US$150) per plank and that would be a huge cost for the whole table. I wonder if eucalyptus wood would be suitable. It is very hard, I think much harder than oak.

Thanks, The plywood I use is birch plywood. not oak I've never used eucalyptus wood, but if it's hard, it shouldn't be a problem.

I am very curious as to how you built your second table saw mount and how it works (raise and lower). Do you have a video on how to build it? Thank you.
@Tensquaremetreworkshop2 жыл бұрын
Solving the saw sled problem- A) Less than 300mm wide - use your mitre saw. > 300mm - use your track-saw. B) Invest in a radial arm saw. Either solution does what a sled does, but- - can also make the cut at any angle up to 45deg... - does not require the rip blade changing - does not lose cut height - can cut almost any length - offers score cuts, anti-breakout support, etc etc Apart from that...
@carpentak2 жыл бұрын
I use the basement of my house as a workroom, but the place is narrow. So I have a 300mm miter saw, but I can't install it in my workroom. It is being stored in a warehouse. Here in Korea, there are very few places that sell radial arm saws, and very few woodworkers use them. Having good equipment is a wonderful thing. If I have enough money, I would like to invest. But just because I don't have good equipment doesn't mean I can't do the job. I'll find a way It's possible. I know that there are many people who can't use it because they don't have the equipment I have.
@Tensquaremetreworkshop2 жыл бұрын
@@carpentak My workshop is only 10 square metres- but I have a table saw, mitre saw, and track-saw. As well as a lathe, milling machine, two bandsaws, scroll-saw, compressor, and a heap of other stuff. With planning, a small space is not a problem. You have the mitre saw, and a track-saw is not expensive- I see you have the MFT for it. I understand the desire to make and publish jigs like this- I do it myself. But many jigs are just a way to use the wrong tool for the job. The build was great, just feel there are perhaps better targets...

Great sled?!? You make it look so easy. Do you have any plans?
Awesome job ! I just have a question, why do you sometime use Miter track (on the top) and sometime T Track (on the board) ?
@carpentak Жыл бұрын
I use the miter track and the T track separately. T-tracks are mainly used for clamps. Miter tracks are mainly used where a miter bar is required. The miter bar is precise and has a wider range of applications. The two are also different in size, so when using them on a board, the T-track takes precedence. Of course, it may change for other reasons. thank you
