Amazing. It's one thing to build it. It's another to play it. But to build it and play it? That's amazing. And it's beautiful--even more so in that I / we got to watch it being built. 22 episodes ago, I accidentally clicked on, I think, episode 3 or 4--I was going to watch "a few minutes" and move on. But here we are. lol You're inspiring enough to make me possibly give it a try.

Sir, first, I would like to offer my condolences on the loss of your father. So sorry to hear. I hope you and your family are getting through it well. I enjoyed your series very much. I discovered it after you had already posted 15 or 16 videos so I was able to 'binge watch' several. I am in awe of your talent and knowledge. I am hoping that in your next series you make a bass viol. I think that would be fascinating. please do not include me in the contest for the molds - I am not a person who could make use of them.

First, I offer my condolences on the loss of your father, Spyros. I am particularly mindful because he was only one year senior to me. I have one of the mold sets from that company and it is a wonderful set. Mine is the Stradivari "Messiah." I look forward to one day building the instrument. I watch a number of luthier videos but not all are dedicated to bowed instruments. I find very good information from all, showing their varying techniques for carving, fitting, and assembling their instruments. At present, I am paying particular attention to instrument repairs, and I have a number of studies to work on. I look forward to watching the videos of your new project.

Maestro I'm sorry for the loss of your father, my deepest condolences and prayers shall always be with him. Absolutely loved the entire series on making, lots of important details were portrayed well, some especially regarding set up were things I would love to see in more detail. Regarding the instrument, I hope it's a double bass, I've wanted to build one and here in India we don't have supplies of tonewood so I'm thinking of building one from local woods as per availability, maybe even plywood because solid timber is super rare especially for the size of a double bass, I don't have metal tuners or bass tailpiece either so I'm thinking of making pegs like a cello and tailpiece out of local hard wood pieces, will watch your upcoming videos for insight on it hopefully ♥️👍

Maestro, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. It is because of you and your generosity that I was able to learn some of what it takes to repair instruments. I was given a violin that is a family heirloom that needed many repairs. The family trusted me with this because of the work I did on another violin. That instrument was restored by me after learning from you. As for what's next, I really have no idea what you could be planing. I feel you could build any instrument you feel like. I remember you found an unusual viola that had a rather large lower section. I would love to see you build one like that. So that is my guess. Thanks again for everything that you have taught us.

my suggestion is to place the music pole inside the the violin before coloring the Fs, this way you can ensure that won't have any scratches on it Fs. the nod on top was clued before shaping it, which is not wrong but I would not do it, to remove the excess of varnish on the back of the fingerboard could use a mold to keep it in a beautiful even shape, after sticking the fingerboard it is good to wait for at least 6 hours and not only 2,, dry the varnish on the sun per 24 hours for each layer is better than that because you could achieve better results and make it more natural.... by the way, the machinery you created to help you is very nice and creative, avoid accidents and also avoid waste, this is also more efficient and risk free.

Your violin looks fantastic. My aunt passed along the mold and plans along with various other violin parts to myself and when I finish the violin I’m working on that might be my next project.

I’ve loved this series. Thank you sincerely for making it. As for the next thing, my guess is a Lyra da Braccio. Even if I’m wrong, I think it would be very cool to see, mostly because it is very similar to making a violin, but the shape of the bottom bout makes arching it more difficult.
@allanm0rris0n4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for a great series. I have built my first violin following your instructions. It is now being used by my daughter who plays traditional Scottish music. By the way, I'm not that interested in winning the mold, but my first guess as to what you are going to make next would be a viola de gamba. My second guess is a nyckelharpa, but that is probably a bit far from the classical family of bowed strings.
@maestrokimon4 жыл бұрын
Many gues the viola da Gamba but it won't be it. And indeed it will be an instrument of the bowed instruments family.
@JBergmansson4 жыл бұрын
@@maestrokimon Nyckelharpa is a bowed instrument though, but just not a classical (central European) one. But if it's not a violin, viola or cello, and not a viola da gamba... then I'm probably missing something. I did not think it would be a double bass, but now I'm not so sure. Of course there are a lot more bowed instruments from around the world, it would be really exciting to see you make one of those, but also a bit surprising.

Great video as always Maestro . Iam a subscriber in your KZbin channel from the beginning of your series. You helped me a lot with your videos and I want to thank you for that ! My guess is that you will make a pontic lyra !!!

Hello Chris! Good to hear that you enjoyed my series and that I could help you. Unfortunately it will not be a Pontiac Lyra although it is a goot idea for a future series.

Kimon, my prayers for your father. Requiescat in pace. Thank you for these videos; they are enjoyable and very helpful. I am guessing a viola de gamba for your next series. Ciao!

Thanks for the whole series. I have learned much which is useful and interesting, since I am currently building my own violin, using, for example, scrapers to your patterns. I too guess you will build a a violoncelllo da spalla. Clue, perhaps, in the final music!

Wonderful series. I am learning instrument making and repair, very insightful. I play cello and viol da gamba so hope / guess your next make may be cello da spalla /viola pomposa or violoncello piccolo all identified with 5th Bach cello suite. For very left field guess a lute or guitara

Thank you for your kind words Ian. I'm sorry but it won't be one of the 5 instruments you mentioned!
