i wanna see you test them against potholes, gutters, and see if they'll withstand lateral force. if they can withstand that then i'll be very impressed! also, you could easily balance them with no weights at all, where the balancer marks to add weight, rotate the wheel 180 degrees and remove weight with a dremel. will do the same thing

Great idea! Best to balance the bare wheel before spraying and just weld on steel to the inside (of the tyre section) to balance so you end up with minimal weights.

It depends on the grade of steel, and I suspect this might be mild steel. Also it depends on the filler metal and process you’re using, I would NOT have used a wire feed system, for those welds to stand a chance under dynamic loading you would have to burn a hot root and each filler pass would have to be immaculate. Even then, yes over time it would succumb to rapid cycles of stress you would have because of the nature of the welds and the fact that it’s a rim for a car tire. The way they did it was completely meme tier and I wouldn’t expect it to last or trust my car with it.
