It needed more struts. Perhaps 3 on each bolt so there wold be a total of 18 struts.
@sunshinekid69224 жыл бұрын
@@Novusod The number would not change the balance. Look at any bicycle wheel: The spokes oppose each other - one forward and one backward. The did not have any opposing spokes. I think simply having an opposing set of gas strusts would have fixed the problem.

I though about compressing the struts when I first saw them being put on, but after some thought I found that that would only work if the struts were installed in a triangle formation. as they were put in they would just extend to full as soon as the pressure was let off, because there is nothing pushing back.

As soon as the rebar was welded on, there was no point having the struts as the wheel lost its flexibility. I think if it was cross-braced it might have lasted a bit longer.

the way struts cross over on regular bike wheels helps stability, would recommend you trying that
@ryantexada92694 жыл бұрын
The struts probably should've been half compressed before being bolted in place, that way they actually have room to flex In the video, the struts were essentially equivalent to spokes because they had no room to flex
@knh629034 жыл бұрын
Flaming Potato compressing the struts would work in theory, but in this configuration, once they are released they will all just return to their original length. this would work in a triangle type pattern or other configurations but not this one
@Tootal744 жыл бұрын
try it again with crossed springs (like bicycle-spokes X ) and mount them half way compressed so they can stretch and compress. Love your experiments!
@jamesshawjr52994 жыл бұрын
Could you try 2 or possibly 3 rows of the gas struts to somewhat keep the wheel more in alignment. Kind of like spokes! Just not as many!! It's an idea. Keep up the great work!!

Very interesting experiment. May I suggest using many more shocks in two rows (inner & outer rows) to help with the wobble. Then mount the shocks mid-travel. More shocks handle the weight better. Mounting them mid-travel would allow the lower side to compress and the upper side to extend. Thanks for the video!
