Excellent knife man. I love that you're using good materials, something I've been criticized for doing. At the end of the day, though, it feels good using a beautiful tool you've made yourself. Always fantastic, thanks for bringing us along.

Thanks Rob! That piece of 01 steel was $20 delivered and I made the 2 marking knives with my son last year, these 2 carving knives and have some left to probably make 2 more. I really enjoyed making knives. I think a chef knife would be fun to make.

Twisted Woodshop I would love to see that. And tool steal stays sharp for soooo long. I don’t grind my chisels like I use to. Now I use my leather honing wheel and it stays razor sharp.

Hi Dave, mate creatively made knives & it’s a nice way you’ve combined leftovers to be super useful. Secondly I love your vice & that’s a gem of a thing to keep forever, great video 👍👍👍👍👍

Once again kudos to your 360-degree-skillset, i think the only machine missing in your shop is a lathe, is this something you wanna buy some day?
@TwistedWorkshop775 жыл бұрын
Thank you! My father has a mill and lathe just a half mile away so for now I am happy to use his equipment for precision machining. I plan on making a 2x72 belt sander soon (to make some bigger knife projects). So I will get some time with the big machines soon

They look great, thanks for sharing! Is there a reason why you cut the end of the tang (the end inside the handle) with a curve rather than leaving it square?
@TwistedWorkshop773 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I made the tang match the cavity cut out by the saw to give it as much surface area to evenly push against the handle.

Hey Dave - lovin' those knives ! Also lovin' the new shop - bet you are too. Must be great having dedicated metal/wood areas to work in.

Thanks Rob! I am loving the new shop space. The metal bench and vise are convenient for sure and they can take a lot of abuse

great video. have you given it any thought about making a few to sell. after watching how you made them and the care you took to get it right, I certainly would buy one. hand made not mass produced. let me know if your interested and what you would charge. great job.

Thanks! I haven't thought much about selling them but it's a good project and doesnt take too long to make. Maybe I'll make a few in a couple months and put them on my website.
