My only possible criticism would be the screws appear (from the colour but I could be wrong depending on the camera/lighting etc) to be Zinc coated, I would definitely have gone with stainless.

Using a knife to mark for the dado is fine but for speed and repeatability I'd recommend you consider using a kerf maker.
