Zines have been around for almost 100 years now and they go through a lot of trends. In the 90s when I first became familiar with them they were an alternative scene thing and had stuff about bands, teenage political opinions, things that were relevant to the grunge scene. Stuff like that. For us, they were black and white because you did them on the copy machine at your parents work. Sometimes in the 2000s, I saw them start getting professionally printed because the internet brought easy access to color printing. I've read ones that were basically someone's journal. They came in all sizes. There are no hard fast definitions to what a zine is. I did see a big change over to them being more artsy once colored printing was accessible.

Shannon, you are delightful to listen to. I love to hear you laugh. You are a hoot!! Thank you. I just had to look at your doodle video after I watched the one on My Vagabond life and she credited your video that she saw. Looks so fun I'll get around to it once I find my Roundtoit, don't know where I put it, probably hidden on my craft table (kitchen table).

What has helped me with doodling, is practising using other people's images by tracing over them. I downloaded a useful app which turns up the brightness and contrast on an image, and I can put my paper over it to trace - this is on my tablet, of course.

Thank you for showing me how to be free and create my own style…I’m in need of making a “big Bertha” that should help me keep my mojo alive and moving! You’re so fun ‼️💚💚💚‼️ps… I have a confession, I didn’t follow your advice about keeping a basket of fodder and never go over that amount by saving excess. You said to use up that supply… well I have boxes of excess papers, envelopes, flyers, and cardboard plus cereal boxes😩All this excess fodder is taking my time away from fun crafting, because now I’m having to sort thru everything and eliminate 🤪 … Craft as you go, but I stock piled and lost control, time, and fun! Keep sharing your craft please, thank you!!!💚💚💚‼️

There used to be a web site (in the '80's maybe?) and you could order zines (usually copy paper folded in half) and they were All in black & white. The most expencive was maybe $1. And some coffee shops or little cafes would have some for free. They were usually stories and ilistrations of their lives which were mostly sad.

You are right about the Zines. Part of their definition is they are printed. A one-of-a-kind anything will never be a zine no matter how many youtube twinkies like the term so use it indiscriminately. Words have meanings. It would have been better served to explain, then NOT use the term incorrectly. It's NOT a zine.
